Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

My peeps are all coming to dinner today to celebrate my oldest children’s birthdays. One turned 21 and the other 23 this February. It should be a fun day. I am cooking Italian and they want ice cream cake…LOL. I joined and I am excited. I chose The Winner’s Curse for my first book and look forward to listening to it. A fairly quiet week book-wise, but that is ok. I am trying to narrow down my list for Take Control. There are so many in my tbr pile I want to read. Right now I am focusing on choosing two from each genre that I read. Stay caffeinated and think spring!

Not yet Bea, but I have eBook and audio and hope to read soon. I am glad to hear it was good!

  1. Melissa

Congratulations on joining Audible! Are audio books New to you? I’m eager to hear your thoughts on them 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, Melissa I am reading my third or fourth one. It took a little bit to get used to them, but now I plug in my earphones and cook and clean while listening to a book..LOL

  2. Jess

Love the cover of Giving In. Happy Birthday to the two February birthdays in your family. I love ice cream cake too. 🙂 I am celebrating my birthday this month too- so yeah for February birthdays. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Happy Birthday Jess! When they were young I made Princess cakes, and train cakes etc..then in their teens they wanted ice cream cake..LOL

  3. Michelle

Happy birthday to your oldest! 23 is a great age 😛
I really want to join audible but I don’t really listen to audiobooks that often as it is. I may get the boyfriend to try it out and then I’ll just use his, teehee.
I’ll definitely have to go check out the Moth and Spark post.
I hope you enjoy your new books!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I just went with one audio a month and the savings as a member are huge. thanks Michelle!

    • kimbacaffeinate

If you can follow her blog tour..all of her guest post are wonderful.

  4. Angie

I love ice cream cake so much. My grandma loved it way back in the 90s. She would have it every year for her birthday. So we have carried on the tradition till now. We always got it from Dairy Queen but nowadays you can get it really from a lot of grocery stores. How fun that you joined! I am not an audio book person. I have trained and just … well no can do. A lot of people love that site though!!

I will be the first to admit that I had a hard time adjusting to audio and while books will always be my first choice I have come to love them and am starting to learn for example you can adjust the speed. I listen to one maybe two a month and plug in when house cleaning or cooking just like you would music.

  5. Peggy

I especially like the thought of an ice-cream cake yummy . Enjoy and Happy Birthday!
I don’t know why, but I’ve never got on with audio books. It’s a shame because that would be perfect in the gym (not that I go that often, because I find it so boring).
And oh, its THAt Breakfast at Tiffany’s. We tend to forget that the majority of movies were books originally. And I will go now and join the Leaping Leprechauns. Thanks for your interesting post 🙂

    My Sunday post is here

    • kimbacaffeinate

It took me a while to get use to audio but I love it for when I need to be hands free.

  6. Farzy

I tried audiobooks before but they’re really not for me. Sometimes fall asleep while listening to audiobooks. lol. Everyone loves The Winner’s Curse and I’m really curious if it’s as good as everyone claims, I’m patiently waiting for it to be available locally. 😀

I listen while doing mundane activities..LOL It took me a while to adapt..thanks!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I will add a plate..LOL I made homemade meatballs, Italian gravy, bread and shells.

  7. Trish

I loved the cover of What We Hide so I clicked in to GR to find out more. Ohhh sounds really good, I love boarding school settings. Can’t wait hear what you think of it.

Hope you have a great time celebrating the birthdays today. We do a similar day in March as my birthday, my sister’s and my mother’s birthday are all within 5 days of each other. Enjoy 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Trish and I hope your event in March is wonderful. I am just waiting for the kids to arrive 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am working almost a month ahead. The book I am reading now posts March 25th.

  8. Melliane

I just loved Written in Red, I can’t wait to see what you think of it. I’m curious about Ghost Seer, I hope we’ll bith enjoy it. Happy reading!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Squee I am glad you loved it Melliane I am excited to start it!

Congratulations on Audible! It is literally my favorite non-essential thing (along with Netflix) and I sincerely believe that they have fantastic customer service, etc. I have never had a problem with them and when I had a question, it was immediately answered. I hope you love it as much as I do! (Plus many of the freebies and sale Kindle books also go on HUGE Audible audio sales as well for like $1.99 or $3.49, which I use OFTEN.)

Yay! I joined audible this week too. 🙂 Happy Birthday to your oldest. I pre-ordered The Winner’s Curse, can’t wait to get it. Hope you enjoy all the new books.

  11. Jan

Moth and Spark is a book I’m going to buy…I just keep hoping the price will come down. LOL I’ll be interested in how you like Breakfast at Tiffanys. I’ve never read the book and I always forget Truman Capote wrote it. Have a great week!

It should drop in price. Breakfast in Tiffany is unique, funny and out there.

  12. Kristin T.

I got hooked on Bella Andre last year and really enjoy her books…still need to read a few of her books, including Come a Little Bit Closer. Have you read anything by Melissa Foster yet? She has a similar style to Bella Andre…I’ve been reading quite a few of her books recently.

Hope you have a great birthday celebration for your kids! I personally prefer ice cream cake, myself!!!

    Enjoy your week!!!

I think we all have been daydreaming about it! Have a lovely week Michelle.

  14. A Voracious Reader

My new grandbaby can join your kids with February birthdays. 😀 We didn’t have a Feb birthday in the family until now. We’re working on a birthday cake for each month and so far we’re only missing a few. lol Good luck with the Take Control Challenge.

  15. Yvonne

I’d be interested in your thoughts about after you’ve had time to use it. I tried it once, but I didn’t really give it a chance. Breakfast at Tiffany’s narrated by Michael C. Hall sounds great. Loved your review of the Bella Andre book since that’s a series on my list to read someday.

    Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Melissa, with this the only time I am not reading/listening is when I sleep, work or spend time with my peeps. 🙂

  16. Melissa (My words and pages)

I do the audible thing, but I closed my membership as I don’t get that many books to pay the price. But I do enjoy looking. I actually have a credit at this time and looking for a standalone book to get. 🙂

    Happy birthday to the kiddos!

    Have a great week. 🙂

I know I will want at least one a month so I went with their lowest plan. Plus I love the deals through Amazon.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh how wonderful that you saw the play. Thanks Terri and I am quite enjoying this. Hall is doing a good job.

  17. Lindy

Great Haul Kim! I got Ghost Seer a little while ago! I haven’t read anything by Maya Banks, but really want to! Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite movies 🙂 Happy Reading Friend!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am excited about Ghost Seer and hope Banks second book is good.

  18. Candace

I’m listening to Written in Red and it’s SO good! That’s cool you joined audible! I was a member at one point but never used it much. Now I get more for review than I can seem to manage to listen to so it’s not a worry. But I do enjoy having them to listen to while I walk the dog, clean the house and drive. It’s a nice way to squeeze in a bit more ‘reading’. Hope you enjoy your books!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am liking it, and I bough Written in Red on Amazon so I got the audible deal 🙂

  19. Lark

Happy birthday to your offspring! And have fun with your TBR pile challenge – I’m looking forward to it! (But miffed that I won’t get to read much in the first week or two due to a huge work project that I expect to eat up most of my time. Nuts. Oh, well, I’ll have to try to make up for it in the second half.)

The Robin Owens book looks interesting. I’ve heard of her, but never gotten a chance to read her books – my library doesn’t have any, can you believe it?! I guess I will have to buy some. If you give Ghost Seer a good review, I might start there.

    Have a great week!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha, it seemed like the only way to narrow the list down. My wishes and ability are very different..hehehe

  20. Tanya

You have February birthdays in your house too! Mine was last week (big 4-0 for me) and my son’s 18th is Tuesday. They grow up so fast. I have been really curious about Maya Banks books, haven’t had a chance to pick her up though.

I am having the hardest time putting together all the books I want to read for the challenge as well, there are just too many good ones I want to try and too many beloved series I have been neglecting. I have a feeling it will be a fun month of reading!!

Enjoy your audible subscription. It is a pretty fun service. Also, their customer service is fantastic. I’ve had some problems with them every so often, and customer service has always been able to fix the issue super fast.
