After the events of Hotel Bruce, the curmudgeonly bear shares his home with not only his four geese, but three rowdy mice besides! Fed up with their shenanigans, Bruce sets off to find a rodent-free household. But as usual, nothing goes quite according to plan. . .

Bruce the bear lives in a den with four geese, because he is their mother. He also lives with three mice. Why? Because they will not go away. Through colorful illustrations, Ryan T. Higgins shows us what life is like for poor Bruce. Oh, the messes! It is loud, chaotic and poor Bruce just wants some normalcy. So Bruce decides to move, and off they go on his motorbike leaving the mice behind. Bruce finds the perfect spot deep in the woods, and soon has a house built. He loves his nice, new orderly home but his geese are very sad. He tries everything to cheer them up, but they miss their friends the mice….that is until they show up and announce they are home!

Both Sophia and Clayton loved the images. Sophia giggled at the messes and adored Bruce’s children. She loved the animals building Bruce’s new home and felt bad for the geese who missed their friends. She ended up smiling by the end.  For me, I could relate to poor Bruce and all the noise, messes and more. Secretly I think Bruce missed the mice, but don’t ask him to admit it. I think there are some teachable moments here especially for children dealing with younger siblings and  I love that Bruce is a momma bear.
