caffeinated winter listens

At the time of the writing of this post (week of Thanksgiving) I have devoured over 62 audiobooks, so I thought I would recommend a few. I belong to Audible and know that each month I struggle with what audiobook to select from my growing wishlist. I tried to provide an eclectic mix to appease all of your tastes. Grab a cup of mocha hot chocolate, coffee or some gingerbread tea and enjoy!

  • The Light duology by Aleatha Romig

The Light duology offers a gripping thriller that takes us into the cult known as the Light. Narrated by Kevin T. Collins, Erin deWard, and Noah Michael Levine Romig had me listening into the wee hours. Read my reviews of Into the Light and Away from the Dark. Perfect for fans of suspense, mystery, and forbidden romance. Both books earned five coffee cups, and you can bet I will be listening to more from this author.

  • Lauren Blakley’s Male POV Romantic Comedies

Big Rock, Mister O, Well Hung, and the Sexy One are all standalone listens by Lauren Blakley. Each is narrated by Sebastian York and told from the male POV. The Sexy One is a dual perspective with the female voice provided by Andi Arndt. The stories are tied together through family and friends, but you can listen to one or all. If you are looking for hot, funny, feel good stories these audios are the perfect indulgence. Read my reviews: Big Rock, Mister O, Well Hung, and The Sexy One

  • YA is Sabaa Tahir’s Superpower

Sabaa Tahir has impressed me with her An Ember in the Ashes series. The first two books, An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night proved to be excellent on audio. From the descriptive world to the characters you’ll soon find yourself consumed by these stories. Narrated by Fiona Hardingham, Steve West and Katharine McEwan the tale is dark and at times brutal as we navigate this Rome inspired dystopian world. Grab your earbuds and enjoy! Read my reviews of An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night

  • The Gifted Ones by Dianne Duvall

The Gifted Ones by Dianne Duvall combine paranormal romance with historical medieval keeps, magic, and time travel. Addictive, funny and wrapped in swoons, you won’t be able to set these audios down.  Narrated by Kirsten Potter my only complaint was that they ended! While these books link to Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series, it is not necessary to read them first. Read my reviews of  A Sorceress of His Own and Rendezvous With Yesterday.

  • Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman

Britt-Marie Was Here

Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman was an audiobook that made me laugh, weep and lose sleep. Narrated by Joan Walker, I dare you not to fall for Britt-Marie and this small rural town. Read my review of Britt-Marie Was Here

I hope you add a few of these to your audio collection. Look for my top ten audio listens for 2016 the last week of December.

Thank you for the recommendations. I’m always looking for more books to listen to. That Lauren Blakely series has really caught my interest. I’ve seen some good reviews for that one.

Thank you for the recommendations! An Ember in the Ashes is on my TBR list; perhaps I’ll see if my library has the audio version.

  3. Lizzy

So many of these that I want to read! Also, I’m completely bowled over by how far in advance you write your posts. I’m lucky if I have them written a few days in advance, let alone weeks!

I still usually only listen to autobiographies or podcasts but I do need to finish A Torch Against the Night! And I can only image how funny the Lauren Blakely ones would be! Thanks for the recs!

These all were already on my wishlist, Kimberly, with the exception of Britt Marie Was Here. But it’s on there now. 🙂 Interesting side note, my son asked for A Man Called Love by Backman for Christmas. My mom got it for him so I’ll have to borrow it. 😉

I know these are audio so it isn’t quite the same but there are so many of these I want to try in regular book form. I really need to start reading more again.
