Lena Diaz launches her thrilling new series featuring the undercover vigilantes of EXIT Inc. with a skilled operative putting his life—and his heart—on the line for a woman in trouble...When Sabrina Hightower awakens to the sound of an intruder, she figures he's there to rob her, murder her— or worse. She doesn't expect to be carried off by a muscle-bound stud with male-model good looks... or that he came to rescue her. Mason Hunt became an enforcer with EXIT Inc. to eliminate the bad guys—terrorists, militia groups, all those who would do America harm. But his latest target is innocent. If EXIT could lie about sultry, strong-willed Sabrina, what darker truths might they be concealing? Going rogue in the rugged North Carolina mountains, Mason risks everything to keep Sabrina close, especially now that EXIT's lethal assassins are chasing them down. The heat is on... but it's nothing compared to the slow burn of seduction.

It has been a while since I’ve read a good romantic suspense so I decided to try Exit Strategy, the first in the EXIT INC series by new to me author Lena Diaz.  Exit Strategy was action packed and hot with a strong heroine and smexy ex-military hottie. I found myself completely caught up and consumed this in a single evening.

Caffeinated Dates with Exit Strategy

  • First Date: Diaz starts things off strong, and she keeps the adrenaline level high throughout. An elite group known as EXIT has targeted Sabrina Hightower for termination. This company does the work too hot for the Alphabet branches of the United States; they are an assassination team. Mason Hunt is an enforcer and former military sniper with strong moral codes and when he learns his target may be innocent things get intense. The tale is fast paced from the onset and I am holding on.
  • Second date: Sabrina Hightower is such a breath of fresh air in the romantic suspense genre. While she may think Mason is H-O-T hot, the girl is not looking to hide behind him. She dives in, grabs a weapon and is ready to clear her name and get justice. Poor Mason, this is all so new to him, and the questions raised about the organization he is so proud to work for are hard to deal with, not to mention how distracting Sabrina is. I liked Mason, he is smart and his personal backstory had me fully engaged. Forget the truffles on this date, bring your sneakers instead as there are intense heart stopping action scenes with some tender moments as Sabrina and Mason get to know each other.
  • Third Date: I cannot set Exit Strategy down. The action is non-stop and our couple find themselves in constant peril. I love how fleshed out the details are as Mason and Sabrina investigate. Secondary characters added interest and our villain is downright scary. I am very curious about another couple we met, and a certain local police officer has me curious as well. While this may be a series, Diaz wrapped this up nicely and it looks like each will work as a standalone with a common arc throughout.

Caffeinated Conclusion: I totally plan to continue this series and recommend Exit Strategy to fans of action packed romantic suspense with mild heat. The next book, No Exit releases in December 2015.

Awesome review! I love the way you are rating heat in a book very clever. I’ve been debating this one but I think you sealed the deal time to add it to my shopping list. Thanks so much for sharing your reviews. Happy Reading!

  4. Jennifer Bielman

I need a good action book right now. It’s wrong, I know, but I mostly want to read this book because it shares the name of one of my fav books of all time. 🙂

  5. Lindy

I’ve been seeing this book around on the blogosphere! I love the book cover. I love a story with constant action and danger. Sabrina sounds like a character I would love. I enjoy reading about strong female heroines, and she sounds courageous, strong, and assertive! Mason sounds like a sweetheart. It’s wonderful reading tender moments in a romance as well as hot ones.

  6. Lover Of Romance

This sounds wonderful, and this author keeps popping up and I do adore romantic suspense, and I love that it keeps you engaged throughout the whole book. Definitely loves stories that are impossible to put down.

Oh, this sounds perfect for one of these summer evenings 🙂 I do have a horribly soft spot for strong heroines. Thanks for putting this on my radar, Kimba <3

I love strong heroines too Ramona. I don’t mind a man taking care of a woman as long as he and she both know she can take care of herself

  9. Debbie Haupt

Wow Kim, I LOVE romantic suspense and this is a new to me author also, but not for long.
Thanks for pointing me in her direction!

  11. Lanie

Sounds like a fun read, like the fact that even though its a suspense its full of romance. I hate books that are suppose to be romance but totally lack it. Great review:D

  12. Sophia Rose

New to me and I love this type of Rom Susp. They sound like a nice pairing and the situation looks exciting.

WOO HOO! I love that Sabrina dives in and wants to help save herself. I have to be honest with myself and admit I would probably hide behind Mason when it came down to it. *sigh* I’ll just have to live vicariously through Sabrina I guess! Definitely going to be reading this one Kim!

  16. Nick

Sabrina certainly sounds badass! I need to read more romantic suspense novels! I love that this was a book you had a hard time putting down, Kim!
