A surprise inheritance reunites a mixed martial arts fighter with the woman he's never forgotten in the first in a smoldering new series from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster… Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He's also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she's older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon. Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather's legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette's scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he'll break all the rules to do it…

No Limits by Lori Foster is the first in her Ultimate series featuring Cannon Colter and Yvette Sweeny. We first met these characters in Foster’s Love Undercover series and this fan was eager to hear their story. No Limits delivered a knockout punch and kicked this series into high gear with a group of secondary characters that gave it a small-town feel. Wrapped in a hot, steamy romance and suspenseful tale No Limits is a necessary read for Foster fans.

Coffee dates with No Limits:

First date: Cannon and Yvette come together after the death of her grandfather. From page I was hooked and quickly lost myself in this date. The last time they were together Cannon was attracted to Yvette in the Love Under Cover series. At the time he felt she was too young. He was caught up in his career, and he ignored her strong advances. He is back from his bout in Japan and ready to address his feelings for Yvette. Yvette left town after her near death experience and has grown since their last encounter. She is determined not to throw herself at Cannon or get him mixed up in her issues. Yeah..Not gonna happy. When these two are in the same room, the sexual tension just crackles through the atmosphere. You can feel the temperature drop as the sexual storm begin to form..yeah baby! I love how Foster threw these two together allowing them to sort out their feelings and reconnect.

Second date: We meet Cannon’s martial art buddies, and I thoroughly enjoy this band of merry men. Much like a military unit, these boys have each other’s six and tease each other unmercifully. The banter and small talk was hilarious and ladies the testosterone levels are off the chart. These boys are smoking hot. Alpha-males that quickly stole my heart with their honor code and friendship. Things are heating up between Yvette and Cannon. Foster makes their dance believable and I am rooting for them. Yvette while damaged is brave and confident. I had to laugh at her protective nature towards Cannon. Foster had me giggle:snorting as they interacted as a couple and with other characters. Outside threats begin to weave into the tale creating danger. There are two separate threats and Foster created suspense without pushing things over the top, creating a believable tension.

Third date: Can I just say I friggin’ love these characters and totally want more! Yvette’s friend from California is absolutely hilarious, and I need her story. We will get her story. Right?*raises eyebrow at Foster* Cannon’s buddies, sister and her roomie are all well developed and unique. The suspenseful threads wrapped up with a nice climax. Foster hinted of relationships to come while keeping me entwined in Cannon and Yvette’s tale. Their romance is sweet, tender, and unbelievably hot; it felt natural and beautiful. I do not want these dates to end, but I cannot set the book down. The savoring will have to be left for the second read.

In case you have not guessed, I loved No Limits and I am looking forward to more of the Ultimate series. Fans of romantic suspense, small-town novels and strong characters need to add No Limits to their libraries STAT.

When I see Lori Foster, I think of you! This is one of those authors I just associate with The Caffeinated book reviewer 🙂 So glad you loved this on!!

  2. Cyn

Me too, me too! I loved the chemistry between Cannon and Yvette. And yes! Can’t wait for all the stories with all the new awesome characters! They’re so much fun (:
    Great review, Kim!

  3. Teddyree

I want, I want!! I l like her writing and it’s nice to get in early on a new series. I haven’t read the Love Undercover series, should I, to get Cannon & Yvette’s backstory?

    • kimbacaffeinate

This will work as a standalone, and really each book focuses on one couple. I absolutely adored the Love Undercover series and do recommend that you read them, but you can begin this new series straightaway.

  4. Kristin

I can FINALLY comment on your review b/c I just finished mine – I love this series!!! I totally forgot the aspect that Lori makes this series feel like a small town, everyone knows everyone and I love that part of it, too!!! I’m pretty sure she’s modeled Warfield after Fairfield, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. It’s outside the highway “loop” that encases most of the older suburbs of Cincinnati but a ton of people live and love Fairfield. Yeah, probably more than you wanted to know but my brother lives in downtown Cinci so I know the area decently – I LOVE my home state!

Anyhoo… fantastic review, girl! I can tell you love Foster! I can’t wait for Denver and Cherry’s book – I wonder what trouble she’s into??????

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am excited for the next one too Kristin and love how she weaves all of the characters into this close knit community 🙂 Woot! Glad you loved it too 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Sweet! I am so glad you loved it too Sharon. I cannot wait for the next book!

  5. kim { Book Swoon }

I sold! I’m so glad you reviewed this and loved it Kimba. It’s been a long time since I’ve read anything by Lori Foster, and this sounds like a winner 🙂 And a new series too – Yay!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Woot..I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it Kim 🙂

  6. lupdilup

Really! That good ah? No need to say more Kimba, this is going right to my TBR – runs to audible..lol Maybe is coming there too 🙂 Most of her books are already there.
Take care of your hand girl. I hope it heals fast.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Loupe, I got in trouble at my post-op check because I busted a stitch but I think the swelling had something to do with it. The finger is black and blue so I know I jammed it up in addition to the cut.

  7. Mary

I’m always up for a band of merry men. Especially merry men who can make merry then kick ass.

  8. Melissa (Books and Things)

I’m glad you enjoyed this one. I’ve been curious about it since I’ve read several of her other novels and really enjoyed them. Didn’t always like the female but it looks like I would like her here.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I remember you saying that, I have not had an issue with the Lover Undercover series or this one with the females.

  9. Red Iza

I was not keen on this novel first (but really loved the cover !), yet your review made me change my mind, I’ll give it a try 🙂

  10. Heidi

I still haven’t tried a book by this author. Maybe I should start with this series, doesn’t sound like I could go wrong after reading your review and your glowing analysis of the characters.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I really love them Heidi, there is some heat, but it is mostly fade to black or mild.

  11. Debbie Haupt

I just friggin, loved your review and Lori too. I’ve never read a book by her I didn’t love
thanks Kimba for this great review:)

  12. DannyBookworm

Oh!! !I’m hooked!! I haven’t heard of this series before, but I love fighting bad ass men. :)) And I also actually like small town stories. It’s pretty personal, I also love living in smaller towns compared to bigger ones.. NYC? Like to visit but not living there:)

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ooo I hope you read this series Danny, I have a feeling you will enjoy it. Sorry I haven’t been around much. We are planning a wedding for September for our youngest and sadly I have been only visiting blogs back. Come October I should be back to spreading the love far and wide 🙂

  13. Jenea

I haven’t read anything from Foster, but from the sounds of this one I need to change that and soon. This sounds like it full of steamy fun. Great review!

  14. Lark

Sounds like this one was right up your alley, Kimba! I tend to go a little sweeter/small-town with my contemporary romance, but you love Foster so much, you may just convince me to try her. . . if I can ever steal the time!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Now see you like mysteries and suspense, so you should appreciate these Lark, and the small-town feel will make you feel at home 🙂

  15. Quinn

I was lucky to get this book at BEA, and it was the very first book I read. I’m so glad that Foster is writing about fighters again! Glad you loved this. I can’t wait for more, either. And don’t you just love the cover? yum!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Heck yes Quinn the cover is yum. I did a WoW post for this and Foster DM’d me and offered to send me the book..she signed it and Squee! It is sitting on my bookshelf in a place of honor. LOL

  16. Lily

Oh I haven’t read anything by this author before *bows head in shame* but you make this one sound so crazy good I feel like I need to give her a chance! I love the sounds of the well thought out characters in this one and the romance! Lovely review 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I really enjoy her books Lily from the characters to the plots.

  17. Rita

What a cover– no comment 😉
Glad you enjoyed it– it sounds like it sizzles!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Rita, there was heat but definitely main stream.

  18. Carmel

Books with a small town feel to them are personal favourites of mine, and the characters sound phenomenal which is a definite plus. I have yet to read anything by Lori Foster, but now I know where to start!

    Happy belated blogiversary, Kimberly! 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I really enjoy her books because they mix genres and the characters are well developed.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Enjoy Felicia, Foster usually delivers for me, and I was so excited for Cannon’s story 🙂

  19. Katherine

I think I may have read a Lori Forster years and years ago. I like the MMA setting and these sound like great characters. I’ll have to try this series. Hope your finger is feeling better! Hurt fingers are awful because it’s not like you can avoid using them.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love her blend of romance/suspense and small town feel Katherine.

  20. Nick

Can you believe that I haven’t read anything by Lori Foster yet, Kim? I fail!
The character dynamics sound fabulous and although the romance sounds smoking and very well-written, I think I would enjoy the other relationships even more!
    Fab review, Kim!

  21. Tanja

I haven’t heard of this one but it sounds really good. I love how characters sound and what’s more when a book grips you from the first page it’s really hard not to enjoy it. Great review, Kim 🙂

  22. Melliane

Many men? That’s nice! Isn’t it always wonderful to have a book you can put down? I’m reading one like that and I’m loving it!!! Great review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, and I always get wrapped up in whatever Foster writes 🙂

  23. Naomi

Ooh… I am reading this one soon… had to pop over and see your rating…. 4.5 Cups, I am excited!
