The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street and Down London Road returns with a story about letting go of the past and learning to trust in the future… When Hannah Nichols last saw Marco D’Alessandro, five long years ago, he broke her heart. The bad boy with a hidden sweet side was the only guy Hannah ever loved—and the only man she’s ever been with. After one intense night of giving into temptation, Marco took off, leaving Scotland and Hannah behind. Shattered by the consequences of their night together, Hannah has never truly moved on. Leaving Hannah was the biggest mistake of Marco’s life, something he has deeply regretted for years. So when fate reunites them, he refuses to let her go without a fight. Determined to make her his, Marco pursues Hannah, reminding her of all the reasons they’re meant to be together.… But just when Marco thinks they’re committed to a future together, Hannah makes a discovery that unearths the secret pain she’s been hiding from him, a secret that could tear them apart before they have a real chance to start over again….

I am a huge fan of Samantha Young’s On Dublin Street series and was excited for the opportunity to review Fall from India Place the fourth book of the series. Young brings complex characters and compelling twists that allow you to lose yourself in the story. I admired Hannah and fell in love with Marco D’Alessandro. The tale was hot, gave me the feels and had me up late finishing this tale.

My coffee dates with Fall from India Place

First date: Ooo this is a second chance romance. From the beginning, we know things went terribly wrong the last time Marco and Hannah were together. Young takes her time allowing us to get to know Hannah and her recovery from Marco. She was young when he hurt her. It is not revealed to later, and I had a sense of what it was..nevertheless, Young added a painful twist I never saw coming. We get flashback memories of her friendship and feelings for Marco. These were sweet and added depth.  Hannah hasn’t heard from Marco since he left Scotland so imagine the surprise when she spies him at a friend’s wedding. Their reactions have me eager to learn more.

Second date: Marco is determined to explain to Hannah why he left, and she is equally determined not to let him. She fears her feelings for him and has some unanswered anger and hurt. The dance was not an easy one and seeing Marco’s determination to talk to her was hilarious at times.  Hannah’s emotions were all over the place from rational to longing. It is obvious things are not over for these too. When they connect physically, you can feel their emotional connection and the heat..whoa baby. It was smoking hot. Young knows how to write these scenes. I just wish these two could talk about the complicated stuff as easily as they can melt the pages.

Third date: Once these two talk and begin to rekindle the tale gets hawt with sweet moments and I was, swooning. But these two both haven’t come clean, and obstacles stand in their way. While I understand, Hannah’s need to protect herself the miscommunication made me a little crazy. She has a tendency to run or close up when faced with too many emotions. I realize she is protecting herself and yes; things have not been easy..but talk it through. I give Marco credit for knowing Hannah so well. He sees her anger and coldness for what it is “a carefully constructed wall to protect herself.” It is so dang obvious these two love each other. The secrets and unresolved issues were so heartbreaking. While I am not a huge fan of drama, and angst, Young made it feel realistic. Thankfully, I was not rolling my eyes. Instead, I was wiping away the tears. Oh yeah, she gave me the “feels.”

Fall from India Place was one hot roller coaster ride. I fell in love with these characters and enjoyed how complex and fleshed out they were. Secondary characters and those from past books all added to the mix. Kudos to Young for including supportive family members and a strong network of friends. I truly enjoyed this tale and all the emotions that came with it. Somebody get me a truffle.

I read the first book in this series a while ago and I remember really enjoying it. It is a series that I def want to continue, and Fall From India Place looks great. I like that it took you on a rollercoaster ride and I also agree that supportive family member would be a great addition.

I love the small-town feel she has given this series from close friends to family. 🙂 Thanks Michelle

I have met Samantha Young last weekend, and she is very nice. But still I am not tempted to read these books, I might try some of her fantasy though.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I haven’t tried her fantasy. Are those adult too?

  3. Lily

  5. Katherine

I love 2nd chance romances and this one sounds like a good one. It doesn’t sound like communication issues were too bad and that can really make or break a book for me. I’ll definitely have to give this series a try!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It’s easier when you understand the motives, and Young establishes that 🙂

  6. Ginny

That cover is HAWT and you’re review makes it sound like a can’t miss soap opera episode. Super happy you loved it! Truffles on the way. 😉

  7. Madiha (Maddy)

This sounds like such a lovely story! The title immediately piqued my interest, since, well…I’m from India, but I don’t think it has anything to do with the country, lol. Steamy romance and second chance stories? I’m sold!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha, no you are right. It actually takes place in Dublin, Ireland.

Sometimes characters really drive me nuts; I just want to scream “TALK IT OUT ALREADY!!” haha. That’s great you liked the latest from this author.

  9. Candace

I have the first book but haven’t read it yet. I do love that it’s a second chance romance though, I like those. 🙂

  10. Heidi

Yikes! Already book four? I have only read the first one. I need to catch up. I like that you get to see the other characters in this one, but I am not the biggest fan of romances with miscommunication, I just read one that made me crazy!

    • kimbacaffeinate

This wasn’t too bad, and at least I felt they were valid reasons but grrr.

  11. Andrea

I was so looking forward to Hannah’s story! I liked this one too, but for some reason didn’t connect like I did with the others.
    Glad you enjoyed!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I struggled with the miscommunication, but ended up really feeling for these two. Thanks Andrea 🙂

I read Down London Road & haven’t gotten to the rest yet. I have the other books out from the library & I am waiting for Fall From India Place to come in. I loved the first book & expect I will love the rest of them. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, too. Thanks for the review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ah you are a power reader and take on a series back to back. While I read 17 plus books a month, I need to mix up both the genres and the series. I need at least a month in-between. Enjoy!

      • Sharlene Wegner

LOL! I dream of being a power reader! I have been way too slow, lately!

  13. Jessica

I know that you know that I love Samantha Young. And YET . . . *sighs* I will read this and soon, LOL. Wonderful review!

  18. Carmel

All of the characters in this book sound a-m-a-z-i-n-g, and I like that the author put a strong emphasis on family and friends. Mmmm truffles. I haven’t even had my coffee yet Kimberly, and already you have me thinking about sweets. Hehe

    • kimbacaffeinate

sorry 🙂 well not really. I need a truffle flavored creamer for my coffee

  19. Faye D'Social Potato

It seems like Young has a way of evoking strong emotions with her steamy scenes! Haha. This sounds like a really good romance with a lot of character development and tension. And seriously, who doesn’t want that? Great review, Kimba!

    • kimbacaffeinate

She draws you in Faye and doesn’t let go 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

She does write good characters that you connect with 🙂

  20. Silvia

Oh, fantastic! I’m so pleased to know you loved this one, especially because the UK Publisher sent me a review copy and I was just wondering if I should have start the read sooner rather than later… I gather the sooner would work best, huh? 😉
Thanks for helping making up my mind, Kimberly!

  21. Lupdilup

You know this is going right on my list, right? I’m 3 for 3 today…LOL I’m going to go broke with all these enticing reviews…I love this series and glad this is a good one too 🙂
