14th Aug

6 year blogoversary

Caffeinated is turning six! All week long I will be sharing posts featuring Six. Today I am sharing milestones, things I learned, things I love and goals going forward. None of this would have been any fun without YOU. So I have a little thank you giveaway. Thank you for your comments, your friendship, for uplifting Caffeinated, and for simply being you. *lifts coffee mug* Here’s to many more years!

I laugh when I think back to the beginning. I really had no idea how large the blogging community was. I didn’t have a smartphone and believe it or not I wasn’t on any social media. It was only through blogging that I made a Facebook page and learned what Twitter was. Now I am on more social accounts than my twenty something kids! I didn’t really know anyone in the blogger world but joined the Wonderful Wicked readathon, hosted by April @ My Shelf Confession. Sadly, April passed last year due to health complications, but it was she who allowed me to meet my first bloggy friends. This adventure has been a learning curve but I have loved every minute of it.

Six Milestones:

  • The Sunday Post
  • 2 million+ visits
  • 3,000+ posts
  • 100,000+ comments
  • Opened Caffeinated Services
  • Hosting a Roundtable Discussion at BloggerCon

Six Things I Learned:

  • Do what you love. Read what you love. Share what you love.
  • You can acquire a new skill every day.
  • Online friends can be among some of your closestย friends
  • Yes, Kimberly, it’s ok to DNF
  • Learn from the herd, but set your own course.
  • Unplugging is necessary. Do it often.

Six Things I Love:

  • The blogging community. I love seeing bloggers uplift each other, share knowledge and rally.
  • Blogging has opened new doors, introduced new genres and ideas.
  • Socializing. I love the friendships that have developed,ย the discovered passions for a genre or author. Our fandom can be wonderful.
  • Helping someone findย their next favorite book or new author.
  • The Sunday Post and getting to know each of these special bloggers.
  • The wonderful authors and publishers I have made connections with.

Six Goals:

  • More discussion posts. You think this would be easy, but I usually end up trying to fit reviews in. I have a Blog Check Up post I wrote in April that I keep pushing back. LOL
  • Expand my community. There are so many blogs I’ve yet to discover.
  • Attend more Bookish functions (this Introvert needs to leave the house. If you met me at a function you might not realize how uncomfortable I am. I get nervous and forget simple things. For example, I met Lauren @ BEA in 2016 and couldn’t remember her name!! All I could muster was a hello and nod. *hangs head*
  • Try more new to me authors and genres
  • Learn more code and design
  • Keep things fresh, step out of my comfort zone. ( I still want to do a vlog or podcast)

Giveaway

I am going to keep this real simple. Followers of Caffeinated can enter to #win a $25.00 Amazon gift card. International winners will receive a gift card from PayPal. Thank you and may the odds be forever in your favor. ..

And I didn’t know that about April ๐Ÿ™ I didn’t talk to her personally, but used to visit her site and just thought she quit blogger. I am late to news, but find it sad to hear.

  5. Victoria (aka zEmfIrKa)

    Happy 6th Blogoversary Kim woot!
The Reading Frenzy turned 7 this year in March and I was totally clueless about the whole blogging thing.
I’m with you, if someone had told me in the beginning that my community of bloggers would become real friends I would have laughed.
I thank you for your years of service to others like me who benefit greatly from your expertise, kindness and helpfulness. You have saved my behind many times so thank you and congratulations on your milestone.

    Happy Blogoversary Kim!!!

I mentioned it when I interviewed you, and I think a a few other times after, but just in case….

You and your Sunday Post have been my April! You were the blogger I stalked for weeks before I created my first blog, the one that inspired me to do it, the one from whom I learned what bookblogging was about and the one that got me connected to your Sunday Post wonderful gang!

And I will forever remember you and be thankful for that! You have been a wonderful mentor and inspiration!

Your lessons learned are wonderful! I feel the same way, I’m so much social and friends I made blogging have been really close to me! I hope you keep blogging for many years to come!

And I’m sure you’ll achieve these six goals and many more.

    Thanks Again!

I identified with a lot of these! It is such a struggle to get to that point where you are like it’s okay to DNF, I have so got to that point. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know my first BEA, I think I forgot everything I wanted to say I am really shy. It’s so easy for me to talk online then in person I clam up but once I get use to people watch out you can’t shut me up…lol. I have gotten better at it but not as much I would like.

I enjoyed your top 6 lists!

Happy blogoversary and congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished! Thank you for the Sunday Post!! The meme has introduced me to so many bloggers and I also look forward to meeting more. I’m the same way in public lol. I’m really quiet and I plan to attend more book events so I need to be more social lol. My favorite drink is soda (which I try not to drink that often) and it’s hard to pick one favorite book but my recent 5 stars is Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo.

  21. Jessica

Beverage wise I favor Diet Dr. Pepper the most! Book wise….oh gee…that’s a toughie! It always is! LOL! I’ll go with one of my more recent reads, A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet! I thought it was soooooo good! I cannot wait to read book 2, which is already in my TBR mountain!

  23. Mary Preston

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

A cup of tea and I couldn’t possibly choose just one book.

  24. Jaime Lester

Happy ‘versary! Congrats on six amazing years. I laughed when I read that you didn’t have a smartphone or even a facebook page. It has taken me a long time to learn about all these social media apps, and I still have no idea what half of them are or do. Facebook. Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat are pretty much my only ones. Snapchat makes me laugh so hard, even as a 35 year old woman. But unplugging sometimes is the only way to sanity I think. To get un-caught up in drama and this or that, and just BE and BREATHE! Anyway, congrats again!

  25. Janie McGaugh

My favorite beverage is homemade lemonade. I have too many favorite books to narrow it down to one!

  26. Lover Of Romance

Such a beautiful post you have here darling!! First off, congrats on celebrating your sixth blogiversary!! That is quite an accomplishment. And so many things you have learned and I concur with ALL of them. Book blogging gives back so much doesn’t it?

  27. Karen Blue

Happy 6th Anniversary! I really like coffee with tons of french vanilla creamer. Having 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning on my day off is one of my favorite things. My most recent favorite book is Nyxia by Scott Reigten. It was so good it almost threw me into a reading slump in the best way. I read it it 2 books ago and I am still thinking about it.

Happy Blogversary!! Favourite beverage while reading? I guess it depends on what time and season! On a leisurely Saturday morning, it’s coffee. At bedtime, it’s usually a glass of red wine unless it’s winter and, in that case, I like homemade hot cocoa spiked with Frangelico! Not sure I have a favourite book because there are so many that I’ve loved, but my first audiobook is memorable and what opened up a whole new world for me: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society!

I did not know that April @ My Shelf Confession passed away last year, but I was a fan of her blog as well and her readathons. A lot of blogs have gone away since I first started blogging in 2010, and I’ve often wondered what happened to my bloggy friends! So sad to hear that news about April.
