Kresley Cole enraptures again with this seductive tale of a fierce werewolf prince who will stop at nothing to protect the lovely archer he covets from afar.

A Dangerous Beauty

Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her—and those she loves.

An Uncontrolled Need

Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.

That lead to a pleasure so wicked...

From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia's greatest weakness—her wanton desire for him.

howlinggood paranormal snarky ROMANCE

PLEASURE OF A DARK PRINCE by Kresley Cole is the ninth novel in the Immortals After Dark series and my latest addiction. Between the narrations of Robert Petkoff and the colorful characters Cole introduces us to, I have become quite the Cole fan. When I put my headphones on and begin listening the rest of the world slips away as these characters, the action and the heated romance spring to life.

Garreth MacRieve is the Lykae Prince and a brutal Highlander for a year he has pursued his mate Lucia the Huntress and PLEASURE OF  DARK PRINCE shares their story. Filled with twists, obstacles and sexual frustration Cole rewarded us with a fantastic tale.

“I’ll never be done!” he snapped, wincing again as his ribs screamed in protest. “You’re my woman, Lousha. Damn you, I’ll never want another!”

Listeners will find it easy to fall for Garreth. Honestly, I was half way there with mentions of him in previous books. I love that despite how frustrated he is, particularly with the need to claim and mate he showed incredible restraint. Was it always pretty or filled with flowery words? No, but the man protects her, guards her despite her protests. Some may say Garreth was a neanderthal, but given the nature of what he is, I was impressed by his restraint. And of course, it helped that despite her reasons for denying their mating she felt the same about him.

Lucia the Huntress may be the best with a bow, but her story is a sad one. Raped and tricked into marriage to an evil god she has never known pleasure and after her first experience fears another. Her husband healed her and gave her the gift of being a mighty huntress. However, it comes with a steep price if she misses a shot the pain is excruciating. She wants to succumb to Garreth but fears she will lose her skill with a bow and the only identity she has ever known. Her evil husband is locked away, and every five hundred years she ensures he stays there. That time is now.

Cole provided one action packed ride, as Lucia races against time, and much to her surprise Garreth aids her. He, of course, doesn’t know the secret she carries. The tale was fast paced and filled with wicked banter, snark, and conflict. Both of our characters face trials and go through character growth. I loved the back and forth banter between them even if miscommunication caused issues. Their chemistry was electric, and I quickly found myself rooting for them.

For fans of the series, Cole rewards us with answers to questions and fills in the gaps on some threads. It was delightful! We spend time with other characters, especially my personal favorite Nix, the Seeker. Secondary characters enhance the tale and deliver fantastic moments. I delighted in the advice Garreth received from his brother and Bowen. Cole continues to cement the series and hints at what is to come.

“Can’t hear… call back… good luck…”
“Nïx, I know you’re faking the static.” She could picture her sister blowing into her fist directly at the receiver. The static abruptly stopped.
“Why?”
“It seemed less rude than the alternative.”
“What’s that?”
Click.”

Robert Petkoff continues to amaze me and has serious spoiled my ears. By far my favorite narrator his command of accents about blows my mind. His male and female vocals and ability to maintain so many distinct voices throughout the series is mind boggling. Wait until you hear his Texan accent. *heart flutters*

PLEASURES OF A DARK PRINCE and the entire Immortal After Dark series are a must for fans of paranormal romance. I recommend listening and feel confident you’ll thank me for it. I myself cannot wait to devour DEMONFROM THE DARK. My goal is to be completely caught up with this series by the end of 2017 and if the rest of the series is as good as the ones I have devoured the task should be easy.

I have only ever read one book by Kresley Cole and it was her YA series and I didn’t particularly enjoy it. I have heard from loads of readers that her adult stuff is way better though. So I need to give this series of hers a try. The audiobook sounds like it was a great way to listen. I’ll need to check if my library has any of her books in audio. I think they do! Glad Garrett lived up to your expectations, Kim! 🙂
