Confession, I, have a love/hate relationship with change and a sometimes irrational fear of things going wrong. And sometimes those fears are realized. This week I upgraded my hosting and went with a company that gets rave reviews, but I didn’t research hard enough and was attracted by fancy servers and cool gadgets. The result was that we were not compatible. It caused my site to go up and down. The move went smoothly, but within a day I was having serious issues. The hosting has VERY restrictive CPU limits, lower than most in the industry, and a ridiculous execution limit which doesn’t work well with WordPress. Needless to say, I am in the process of moving to another host. I am writing this at midnight on Saturday because I have no idea when the move will happen or how long my site will be up in the morning. Hopefully, I will be up and running normally soon. I am mentally exhausted from the ordeal and fear I have actually  caused myself to become ill.  I apologize to all of you and thank you for reaching out and checking on me. I hope your week was a good one, and as always stay caffeinated!

You are up! I checked earlier and you weren’t so I guess everything was resolved. I’m with SiteGround and they’re great. My transfer was quite easy when I switched and – touch wood – I’ve not had any problems.

Take care though and I hope you’re able to put this all past you soon! xxx

Oh the hosting problem sounds like a nightmare! Hopefully the 2nd move will be super smooth and a much better fit! And you definitely need to get some rest. If I remember right you had some lingering cough problems not too long ago and that does not need to come back! Have a great and relaxing week!

Aw no, sorry to hear that! Here’s hoping it all goes smooth and you’re up and running with no issues very soon. Hang in there. 🙂 Have a relaxing Sunday hopefully!!!

I am SUPER curious about what hosting you are talking about because Nick and I had a horrible experience with our hosting earlier this year. Sadly, we are still stuck with this hosting unless we want to lose over a year of our posts 🙁

I hope everything goes over smoothly from now on and happy

  5. Cyn

Oh no! That’s definitely frustrating! I recently switched host and struggles too. I hope everything goes smoothly here on out and you feel better!

  6. Kristen

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear you’re having such trouble with your hosting :-/ I’ve had issues with my hosting recently because they never seem to be able to help when I have questions or need to do something, and I’m tempted to leave, but I’ve stuck with them so far since they do keep my site up really well and have high limits. Good luck getting your site issues sorted out!

Changing hosts is scary business for sure, Kim! I hope you’ll get it all resolved quickly and easily so that you won’t have to sweat it for too long.
Thanks for the spider… I think?
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

*fingers crossed* that this move is much smoother. I have no idea what hosting is all about, but it sounds exhausting. I think I’ll stick with Blogger for now. {{{posivibes}}} that you are not getting sick! Hang in there, Kim! *more {{{posivibes}}}*

I am so sorry you had all those hosting problems! That is just terrible. I am not techie enough to really understand all the stuff that goes into blogging so I know that would really freak me out as well! Hopefully today it is all sorted!
    That spider though….no. Just no.

I hate change and always fear that things go wrong and it actually does happen that things go wrong. I am sorry to hear about your website problems. Website/ hosting problems are so frustrating and I hope you find a new hosting provider to stay soon. And sorry to hear you’ve gotten ill now as well, I hope you feel better soon! I hope this week is a better one.

Welcome back! Technology was suppose to make our lives easier, but we’re all learning that’s not always the way. Take a deep breath, try not stress…things eventually will work out.

So sorry to hear of the hosting problems, that sounds like a nightmare. I hate any kind of system issue so I can understand your fear and stress. I’m with RFE and while they had a large outage earlier this year, I still think they are great. Their customer service is great and I like having my hand held which is what they do! Hope your move is seamless and that you feel better soon.

That seriously sucks. When I first went self-hosted in January my site was down more than it was up and so I switched to InMotion Hosting and haven’t had problems sense, if anything WordPress itself has been a poophead every now and then. I hope things get worked out for you. Also, the spider really?! You just had to freak me out this early in the morning.

Um… yeah… you brought that damn spider out again, didn’t you. Way to startle me before the coffee this morning!!! BTW, I thought MORE about you last night. I had an idea that maybe “geek-friend” could help you with. Emailing you…. *HUGGGGGGG*!!!!!!!!

Oh, how frustrating, Kimberly! I wonder if the hosting problems were exacerbated by that massive wave of denial-of-service attacks that happened Friday (or was it Thursday?) At any rate, I hope the second transition goes more smoothly. Please rest and relax and feel better, OK? And may you have a better week this week!

That spider is totally creepy. *shudders* I wasn’t expecting it! Once I got over the shock, it was kind of cool, though.

Oh no!! That does sound like a headache! Part of the reason why I hate computers! Things get sooo complicated and then there are companies who are not dependable. I hope you get things worked out to your liking! As I said, these kinds of things give me headaches and anxiety.

Nice new read! Small hauls are the best! That’s a totally new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!! Hope you feel better soon too!

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear you have hosting issues. It is a crappy feeling when your site goes down for something and you have to rush to get it back up. I hope you get it sorted out soon.
I got that Nick Cutter book this week as well! I really enjoyed The Deep last year and I can’t wait to read his new book.
    Have a great week Kimberly!

Ugh. I would stress over that severely too. That’s part in why I haven’t switched from Blogger. I just can’t mentally do it. *sigh* Hope you get switched and all goes smooth! Take care!

  20. Mandy

That’s exactly why I haven’t moved my blog. I’m so sorry this ordeal has been so awful. Hopefully, this move will be the last and things will be back to amazing. Fingers crossed.
Looks like you had a great week on the positive side. I hope you have a much better week.
Enjoy your new book. Happy reading!!!

Oh my! That is like my worst nightmare. I am pretty happy with my hosting place, we have only had one hiccup earlier this year when they were hacked but other than that I am content. Mostly cause I don’t anything about anything when it comes to that stuff. 🙂 Hope you get things all settled, that has got to be stressing. Take care yourself! 🙂 *hugs*

  22. Got My Book

So sorry to hear about your hosting troubles. I have been having a lot of problems with my (non-WP) blog, and am having to consider moving. It all seems very overwhelming. I hope the new new one works out better.

  23. Michelle

Ugh! So Sorry to hear that. I was always so worried when I switched from blogger to WP but when the DDoS Attack on my blog at the beginning of this year and my blog was up and down I was so overwhelmed. It was frustrating. I do hope you are able to switch hosts with ease.

Hope this week is better for you! Happy Reading! ox

  24. Toady

Ooh. I also have a love/hate attitude towards change. It’s good when it goes well. What a horrible thing that you went through all the bother of changing servers and ended up with a lap full of trouble. Here’s hoping that you get situated without too much difficulty.

So sorry to hear that you are having hosting issues – I hate it when that sort of thing happens and very much hope it’s all sorted out very soon. For what it’s worth, it all seems smooth enough now… Have a great reading and blogging week – it sounds like you thoroughly deserve a splendid week reading marvellous books!

Will I lose points if I tell you I completely dislike the totally random spider!!? Yuck. Thanks for making my skin crawl with my coffee haha. I am sorry to read about the hosting issues. I am looking at upgrading, but am not sure about hosting yet, for that very reason. While I have some knowledge, it is limited so it takes soooo much research and discussion. Hesitant. So I understand the fear. Hope you are having a great Sunday!

  27. Jan

I’m so sorry you’ve been going through this, Kimba. I’ve gone through a few similar things and it’s so frustrating–especially when your site goes down. I hope it’s all ironed out soon. I also hope you can relax and have an enjoyable week.

BTW, that spider….oooh. I had to hurry away from it!

The spider was creepy, as a spider should be this close to Halloween. I am so new to blogging that I don’t even know what “hosting” is, I just hope you get straightened out soon and don’t lose anything (like one comment referred to)or that nothing bad comes out of it all because you have such a great blog! I for one and glad I am following it!!

I’m so sorry that you had to go through this! I usually struggle with which hosting site would help support my website without acting up and sometimes it’s hard to figure out which hosting site is the right one. I hope everything goes well.

Oh my gosh! What a pain!! That is one reason I haven’t switched things up. I’m worried about stuff like that and my blog doesn’t really pull enough that I can feel it’s worth paying the big bucks for what I really want. I hope it all gets resolved soon and less painfully than it has been so far!

Oh man, Kimba, I’m so sorry. That is terrible and stressful. I hope its resolved asap. I just browsed through your comment section to see if you had responded to anyone saying it was fixed. I don’t see any responses so that gives me worry that it’s still not working or you’re super sick. 🙁 Know I’m sending you super good vibes right now.

That sounds horrible. I was dealing with my second eye surgery last week and I wasn’t on many blogs so I had no idea this was happening with your blog. This and things like it are exactly the reasons I could never have my own blog. I would be so lost. I so respect how much work it is in the first place but to have it go all screwy had to be so frustrating! Hopefully it’s all fixed now!
