Can't Buy Me Love

It's Tag Crane's job to be the life of the party. Traveling from one exotic locale to another is just part of running the luxurious Crane Hotel empire. But even paradise isn't perfect. Devising a new business strategy is keeping Tag up at night-and so is the Great Dane barking at all hours in the apartment below his. To muzzle the problem, Tag charges downstairs . . . right into the most beautiful, blond distraction, he's ever seen.

Dog-sitting by day, bartending by night. It's not exactly the life Rachel Foster dreamed of. But when Tag Crane rushes in, all mountain-man shoulders and obscenely sexy smile, needing her help for the Crane Hotels, it's a fantasy come true. What's the harm in a fun no-strings fling? Only a fool would give her heart to a billionaire player like Tag-until suddenly the one man who can't be caught is the one flirting with forever . . .

Brothers Family ROMANCE SEXY

The minute Taggart Crane showed concern for a Great Dane I was lost! The Billionaire Next Door by Jessica Lemmon is the second novel in the Billionaire Bad Boys series featuring the Crane brothers. Tag and Rachel’s story was filled with heart, character growth, family, and delicious heat.

Coffee Dates with the Billionaire Next Door

  • First date: We met Tag in the previous book. He handles the bar and restaurant services of the Crane Hotel Empire. Tag isn’t your typical corporate dream guy. He is dreamy, long-haired, muscled and more comfortable in jeans and his form-fitting shirts. He loves to travel and prefers working in nontraditional settings. He is also commitment shy. Tag is an all-around nice guy and a softy when it comes to animals. Yep…I am in love. After a relationship, disaster that cost her, her pride and marketing career Rachel is working as a bartender. When a friend needs someone to house sit, his Great Dane Rachel accepts the offer. For one month, she will be living in an upscale luxury apartment. A barking, anxious Great Dane introduces them. Tag is the total opposite of her dream guy, but I think she is in for a surprise. I am curious to see what develops.
  • Second date: A weird, cute, awkward, sexy friendship develops between Tag and Rachel.  Moments between them made me laugh aloud as we see their attraction build. Their friendship, attraction, and respect for one another allowed me to connect. Rachel begins to rebuild her confidence and pick up the pieces of her life. The romance unfolded slowly; giving us time to warm our toes before a no-strings relationship begins that is anything but.
  • Third date: Of course we spend some time with the Crane family.  They handle a family crisis concerning one of the brothers. Oh, lord it made me cry. I am already pining for the next book, The Bastard Billionaire. As Rachel and Tag become aware of their feelings, they panic, but Lemmon kept the drama to a minimum. I admired Rachael and wanted to knock Tag on the back of the head. Watching him figure it all out with the help of friends and family was humorous. Lemmon made their romance and emotions feel genuine, and I took pleasure in watching their story unfold.

The Billionaire Next Door delivered a delightful, heartfelt love story, surrounded by family and friends. I adore how Lemmon brings a small-town feel to these heated romances.

I also liked the cute awkward sexy friendship! And the dog was so cute! Glad you enjoyed this too! I can’t wait for Eli’s story! Lovely review, Kim!

Okay, NOW I can read your review!!! YES, I, too needed to reach out and smack Tag on the back of the head, ala Gibbs 🙂 Ya know, I was totally surprised by the third brother at the end b/c there was no mention of him in the beginning and I hadn’t read the first book. No biggie, though. Jus sayin’ But, yeah, I AM going to NEED that book!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not normally a fan of ‘billionaire romances’ Kim, but this one sounds really, really good! I guess there truly always is the exception to the rule 🙂
    Great review!

Is it wrong that the Great Dane is what snagged my attention the most? 🙂 I do love stories with animals getting a role in the romance, but the rest sounds pretty good, too.

Dude, you cannot even see his face and I think he is yummy! Why couldn’t my husband be the billionaire next door ??? I kid…sort of :). Great review as always Kim!

That’s why I love Lemmon’s books, she never makes the drama heavy, it’s always heartfelt and gooey with the feels.

“The minute Taggart Crane showed concern for a Great Dane I was lost! ” — Me, too! Love a hero who is ready to take care of children and animals. Thanks for the post.

Yes! This was a great romance. I loved both Tag and Rachel and the dog that brought them together. I loved how Tag would sit in the lobby to “read” when he was really waiting on Rachel to come home from work.

I haven’t read very many Billionaire books because I wasn’t really interested but I’m glad that I read this series. I loved both books. So much fun! Lovely review as always, Kim!

There are so many billionaire books out there my head spins every time I see one. Looking at your review, maybe I need to stop and check one out.

It seems like this this book (and series) would click a lot of my buttons, Kim. I loved your coffee dates with Tag and Rachel – sounds like the both do some growing even if Tag needs some help along the way. 😉 This is another series I need to jump into!

Um. Yes, please Kim! And the hero is a softy when it comes to animals? *falls madly in love*

I’ll be honest, Kim, I cringe whenever I see a title with “millionaire” or “billionaire” like those Harlequin books. BUT, you’ve made a very strong case for this one, especially by mentioning the laughs. I’ll look this up!
    Great review, Kim!
