The first of a new trilogy about the most dashingly dangerous men in London. Pay a call to the most seductive address in London and meet the Rakes of Cavendish Square.... Lord Leo Byron is bored with the aristocratic company he keeps; he needs a distraction, preferably in the form of a beautiful new female companion. So when he sets eyes on fascinating and scandalous divorcée Lady Thalia Lennox, he’s determined to make her intimate acquaintance. But the spirited woman seems to have no intention of accepting his advances no matter how much he chases—or how hard he falls.... Once a darling of Society, Thalia Lennox now lives on its fringes. The cruel lies that gave her a notoriously wild reputation have also left her with a broken heart and led to a solemn vow to swear off men. Still, Leo Byron’s bold overtures are deliciously tempting, and, for the first time, she finds herself wondering whether it just might be worth the risk to let the attractive rake into her life—and her bed....

The Bedding Proposal is the first in Tracy Anne Warren’s new Rakes of Cavendish Square. While the Rake on the cover only looks sixteen *snort* I do love a delicious tale involving rakes and dove in. Fleshed out characters, wicked banter and obstacles made this romance a treat!

Coffee Dates with the Bedding Proposal

First Date: Lord Leo Byron and his twin brother fresh out of school and twenty-five year old are discussing women and plans since earning their law degree. It is here that Leo spots the infamous divorcee Lady Thalia. Rumors abound within the ton about her scandalous divorce and her dalliances. Leo cannot seems to take his eyes off her and is determined to set her up as his mistress. When Leo introduces himself to the spirited Thalia and receives a glass of wine over his head for his troubles, I knew I was going to like Thalia and like her, I did. A feisty woman..I know there is a story here.

Second date: Leo is determined and so is Thalia. I loved the banter, pursuit and unveiling of the characters identities. You can feel the attraction simmer between them and I adored that she was a slightly older woman. Thalia is complicated and headstrong. I loved her inner battles as Leo attempted to woo her. As we learned her story I became more thankful I was not born to this era. Long live suffrage and women’s rights. Leo is charming and watching his feelings for Thalia grow and change made him swoon-worthy. The man snubs his nose at the Ton and he stole my heart. For me the banter and pursuit was delightful. I giggled aloud one moment and sighed the next.

Third date: WTH?!?!? Ooo I am fuming, English law is an abomination. I know, I know I must remember the times! Our couple meets obstacles; Leo gets some satisfaction and his family they rock. Thalia’s ex-husband is a turd. We learn all of the details, and see our couple face danger. This last date had me sitting up into the wee hours hoping we would get our happy.

Conclusion: I enjoyed my dates with The Bedding Proposal. I had some laughs and swoons thanks in part to the wonderfully fleshed out characters. I am curious about Leo’s twin and look forward to my next dates with the Rakes of Cavendish Square.

I love Tracy Warren! The cover model does look very young but I will have to read it!

  2. Blessie (Mischievous Reads)

I totally agree that the guy on the cover looks pretty much my age (and I’m 20, lol). This sounds sooooo good! Who can’t resist classic English men, puh-lease? Adding this to my TBR! Thanks for sharing! xx

    • kimbacaffeinate

hehe..see you don’t have to be vulgar to get a good giggle out of folks 🙂

  3. Cyn

Ooh, I was just thinking of picking this up! Happy to see that it was a lovely read! I do love a good rake and a feisty heroine – it makes for great banter (and yes…cover boy does look 16, ha).

    Great review, Kim!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks for reaffirming my thought Cyn..and this was wicked fun

  4. Bookworm Brandee

This sounds like a delight. I adore a woman who bucks societal constraints and, generally, men who fall for such women. 🙂 This is definitely going on my tbr.

  5. Michelle

I haven’t read a historical romance in a year…maybe two, I suppose I need ti fix that. I have several on my shelves already so I won’t be breaking my TBR rule this month.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ooo dig them out 🙂 I try to read at least one a month

  6. Kim { Book Swoon }

I had to scroll back up and actually look at the gentleman’s face, Lol. I’m so use to glancing no farther than chest level! He does look a bit young … I haven’t read an HR in a while and this sounds fun. I like the sound of the banter and pursuit between these two. Glad you enjoyed. Lovely review, Kimba 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

hehe..I tend to look at the chest first, and always remember a character from Lori Foster who said eyes up here doll.

  7. Lauren

Hahaha your third date cracks me up. I always have that problem when I read historical romances. I’m always LIVID at the times and situations, but that’s half the fun, isn’t it? Lovely coffee date review, glad you enjoyed this!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I agree, this was particularly a particularly hair-pulling law

  8. Lupdilup

OK, the characters age difference has me all intrigued..LOL I love Historicals, but sadly I haven’t been adding many to my list.
Sometimes I feel glad I live in current times (indoor pluming, it’s a big one..lol) and definitely the law , but others I don’t. I check for this one on audio, no luck! I do see the author has a few books published so this one might be out soon…My everyday song..lol
    Thanks Kimba.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Lol..I be like what do you mean it won’t be out on audio..

  9. Jennifer Bielman

Sometimes these books make me want to pull my hair out in frustration over what they thought was okay back then. But I love the sound of these snarky characters.

  10. Benish

Ohh, this sounds like a fun read, I’m bit sad it’s a series though.. I miss reading stand alone novels. Great review though 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

The nice part is that these each work as a standalone Benish.

  11. braine

    So proper… turd! Lol

I feel your indignation over old laws. I felt the same way while watching Belle.

  12. Melissa (Books and Things)

Looks like lots of fun. I don’t see 16 on the cover, but yea… quite young. 🙂 Hm… I’m not always liking rake books but I think you convinced me I would enjoy this one.

  13. Katherine

This sounds interesting! I only read one historical that featured a divorce that I remember and that was the man and it was more Victorian times. I like the sound of Thalia and the sounds of this couple going through some really real issues. Great review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

English law was awful back then, but this couple was a lot of fun

  14. sherry fundin

It’s the obstacles that get your emotions involved, especially when they seem so ridiculous. Books are great for me when they get my emotions involved, whether through laughter, anger, or…… Thanks for sharing and happy reading.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right, in this case it was English law…of course it was men who wrote it…off with their heads

  15. Ramona

I love headstrong heroines, and even more so, “slightly older women” romances 🙂 Time was only male characters could be that – but times are a-changing and that’s wonderful. Another compelling review, Kimba, and I’ve added this to my list. Nicely done again.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Ramona, if the age difference isn’t too great I enjoy the switch up

  16. Debbie Haupt

Oh Kim loved all the dates and you’ve hit on one of the things that make me pull out my hair when I read a novel the injustices of the time.
    Great Review!!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yeah it wasn’t all swoons and dances for these poor women

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh they were horrid for women Heidi. We would have been outcasts by the ton I am sure

  17. Candace

You’re right, he does look a bit young on the cover. But I like the sound of the story. I just love the term ‘Rake’. It’s fantastic. And banter is always a win!

  18. Stormi

He does look rather young on the front cover there…lol. This sounds like a good start to a new series. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was Stormi, I had fun and the banter was delicious

  19. kindlemom1

LOL! You are so right, he does look young! Ha! I guess though that would actually go with the times since most id marry young. 🙂

    Great review Kim!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, but the hero is twenty-five and maybe it is me, but the model looks so young

  20. Jenny

    “Thalia’s ex-husband is a turd.”

*snort* You make me laugh Kim! I’m starting this one next week and I can’t wait, it sounds like it’s going to be right up my alley with all the banter and tension. I have little doubt I will fume as a result of the same thing that caused you to do so, but that just means I’m emotionally involved in the story which is always a win.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was a fun ride Jenny, and I look forward to your thoughts

  21. Nick

Bahahahaha! He does look like he’s only 16! He’s got the body, but that face yo!
This looks like a sweet story and I’m curious about the characters. But OMG you’re third date is freaking me out!! I hope it’s not too rage-inducing.
    Lovely review, Kim!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It is hard to imagine the model as a Rake. Oh my third date had a little of everything but not so much that I was rolling my eyes or seeing red.

  22. Jess

Glad you enjoyed this one. It does sound interesting! I agree the rake on the cover looks a little young, but I guess 25 is pretty young. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, twenty-five is a baby still, but my son is 22 and looks much older then the model

  23. Aubrey Wynne

This looks like interesting. What a fun idea. And I agree–he does look 16. Or maybe I’m just getting older…

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thank you, they say he is twenty-five..but he has such a wholesome baby face for a Rake.

  24. Silvia

I bet you already knew I was going to be intrigued as soon as I saw this, huh? Indeed, this definitely sounds like my cup of tea or, in this case, coffee! 😉
YAY for a new great historical romance!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love to read at least one a month and Warren’s was fun 🙂

  25. Lexxie

A slightly older heroine and a twenty-five year old lawyer? Um, where do I sign up, Kim? Both Thalia and Leo sound like great characters, and a feisty heroine wins every time!

    I hope you’re having a fantastic week 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

This was fun..the banter and dance was delicious.

  26. Melliane

Sometimes obstacles can be fun to read about. I didn’t know about this one but I always love a good HR! I want one now!!!!! Thanks for the review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I really had fun, and loved the banter and snark
