At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter's cheating on her--and she is left trying to decide what to do next. Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one...

newadult BOOKLOVE SEXY SWOON

I am not sure what took me so long to read Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. I adore all of her books, but last year was crazy and somehow I skipped it. I am so glad I finally dived in and I devoured it in one sitting. Warning once you start you will not be able to walk away.

Caffeinated dates with Maybe Someday

First date: Right away I found myself liking Syndey and loathing her best friend. We then slip back two weeks in time and I fall for a sexy musician named Ridge. The tale is told in dual perspectives one of my absolute favorites for this type of romance. I panicked at about 100 pages and actually messaged my friend to ask if something would happen because I was OUT if it did. View Spoiler » She talked me down and I am glad that she did. Really, I should have known Hoover would never steer me wrong. From this point on, the rest of the world slipped away and I consumed every word without looking up.

Second date: I loved the characters. Warren, Ridge’s best friend and roommate is hilarious. The dude just says it like it is. The pranks and banter are hilarious. Ridge of course made me swoon. He is a good guy with this big heart. He is a fixer and sometimes you cannot fix everything. Ridge’s other roommate whom I will refer to as “Hooter’s girl” is snarky and downright hilarious. I liked her; she was a bitch but real. The interaction between Syndey and Ridge is both magical and painful. Love is complicated and this particular complication tugged at my heartstrings. There is not unnecessary drama and it felt real. Sometimes love is messy.

Third date: I should mention music plays a huge part in this story and I loved every minute of it. I recommend you listen to the songs while reading. The original music created for Maybe Someday was done by musician Griffin Peterson. You can find it on Colleen’s website. It just added extra feels to the story. Ooo, this last date had ups and downs and feels. Hoover makes you connect and understand exactly what each character is feeling. The story felt realistic and the characters actions were genuine. I wanted to hug them all. Ironically I never felt the need to slap any of them in the back of the head instead I wanted a happy for everyone. I think Hoover did a damn fine job in sorting it all out.

Maybe Someday touched me here. *points to heart* If you have not tried her books yet, this would be an excellent place to start. Grab a soft blanket and prepare to lose yourself in her characters for a spell. Maybe Not, is a novella featuring Warren and I look forward to devouring it.

I loved this book–I have to go back through and read others by her but I have not carved out the time to do so yet.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It is hard, I have the novella and still need to read it myself

  2. Mariana

I have not tried this author, but the other day I got a ton of her books and will get to them soon. Can’t wait.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh Hoover writes the feels without overdoing the drama Mariana

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes I am glad you loved it as well..some of those music scenes just made me melt

  3. Genesis Reyes

I love Colleen Hoover. I’ve had Maybe Someday’s audio on my iPad for a while but haven’t gotten around to reading it and I have no idea why. Your review just pushed me to want to start the book but right now I’m with Ugly Love! But I will definitely read it after I finish with Ugly Love 😀

  4. Benish K

Maybe Someday is one the best books I’ve read, I really find it original and sweet compared to most New Adult novels, although, this one isn’t as graphic. I’m glad you found it great as well – lovely review.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Some of those scenes, particularly involving music just WoW. *swoons*

  5. Olivia

I love the way you reviewed this read with the dates 😉 It was new and fresh! I haven’t read a Colleen Hoover book before I really need to! The appeal of course is in the likeable characters and how music is so important to this story!

  6. Adriana Garcia

    So cool that his has a playlist that goes with it. I love books that have music as an important part of the book because there’s usually passion behind the music. All the characters sounds really fun except her best friend. I really like dual POV’s too and Colleen Hoover cowrote a book I really liked so I’m already sold for Maybe, Someday. If only this was in my library! Aren’t you happy you continued along? (;

    • kimbacaffeinate

I loved this Adriana and some scenes have just stayed with me 🙂

  7. Alreem

wow so happy to see you enjoyed this book so much ,, I have this book but haven’t touch it yet but I’m going to this year for sure 🙂 lovely review

  8. Stacy (StacyHgg)

I’m so glad you loved it Kim!
I read this one last year after my sister told me to, and I adored it! I am also a huge Colleen Hoover fan, however not because of her Slammed series like so many others. I liked but not loved that series. Hopeless, Ugly Love, and this one are my favs of hers.
    Great Review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

pst..I haven’t read Slammed only her NA novels and Hopeless series

  9. Lily B

It’s always kind of interesting when a book loops music into the story line and it has it’s own ‘score’? thats different.

  10. Bookworm Brandee

I love CHoover too, but have only read her Slam series. Can I say last year was crazy for me too? 🙂 Maybe Someday, as well as Hopeless, are on my schedule for this year. I’m glad you were able to wile away some time in such a good read!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Some of the scenes were so romantic Melissa. I loved Ugly Love on audio

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh Grace..read it. Some of the scenes are so stinking romantic

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh that is a bummer, and of course I will check it out. If you cannot connect to a character it completely changes the dynamics

  11. Candace

I still haven’t read any of her books but I’m glad you loved this. One of these days I’ll get on it!

  12. Michelle

I am so slow about getting around to Colleen’s books..maybe because I know the feels will be off the charts and I have to prepare myself, lol. I might have to squeeze one of her books in during the spring if I can.

    • kimbacaffeinate

These are good feels my friend, and moments that stay with you.

  13. Quinn's Book Nook

I need to read this. I loved Hopeless and Losing Hope so much, but haven’t read anything else by Colleen Hoover. I think this book would be right up my alley and I’m really glad that you loved it so much. I need to make time for it soon.

  14. Lorna

I think this is the one by her that I have on my Kindle-I think you just moved it up my tbr list. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  15. Berls

I finally joined the world of Colleen Hoover fans this year – I read Ugly Love and adored it! I have this one and I’m excited to read it too – I actually have the audio version and now that I know music plays such a big role I’m curious to ser if this will be one of those audio books that uses the music!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ugly Loved rocked, but this has scenes that stole my heart 🙂

  16. Naomi

Fantastic review Kimberly. I loved this too, and it touched me! I am glad you got talked down, and read the whole thing (I am assuming Christy helped) because it was a beautiful read. I agree about the music, it was a huge part of the book. This book made me cry!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Wasn’t it wonderful and some of those scenes..gads I melted!!

  17. Maryam Dinzly

Omg, this book has been in my Goodreads TBR shelf for so long, and I think I should start reading it because you made it sound so fun and lovable! Thank you for your review 😉

  18. kindlemom1

One day I really will get all of her books read! I do have this in my TBR pile so, maybe this year will be the year I get more of her books read.

    • kimbacaffeinate

You mean Christy hasn’t been bugging you to read this? LOL It is worth it 🙂

  19. Karen

I was kind of afraid to read this because I know her books can be intense and I’m all about the low angst these days but no unnecessary drama sounds great too.

I’ve only read a novella by Hoover so far but I enjoyed it.

    • kimbacaffeinate

It wasn’t overly angst and really was just honest. I loved how beautiful it was..there are moments within the story that I can still see when I close my eyes.

  20. Ro

This is an author I’ve never read, but your review is written so wonderfully that I’d love to check out her work. Love the idea of a story being built around music. Hugs and Super Sunday to you!

  21. Red Iza

I kept seeing great reviews on Colleen Hoover’s books but I saw so many of them that I felt obligated to read her – hence, I stalled like a good old mule. But OK, you convinced me, I’ll give this one a try when it’s released 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh this came out last year, I read the release after but missed this one..go, go read!

  22. Christy

LOL – I’m glad I was able to talk you off that ledge. I think there have been quite a few people who don’t grasp what is going on, you know? They immediately get this black-and-white mentality and check out w/o seeing it through. Their loss. Did you read Maggie’s epilogue on Coleen’s website? It’s short, but perfect.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Fixed comment. Yeah I got nervous, but I should have known. No I need to read the novella first, then I will
