He’ll risk it all to bring her home. Morgan Carter witnessed her sister’s murder, has been turned into a werewolf and is now raising her young niece. Then her fiance, Greyson Crawford, proves he wants to be with her for the wrong reasons, and she knows her life couldn’t be any stranger. Devastated, she retreats to her cozy house in the city with her sister’s little girl, Lana. There, they’ll have normalcy, and maybe eventually, even happiness. But Morgan’s the only living silver wolf. Her uniqueness—the ability to produce werewolf offspring—means, without Grey’s protection, she’s unknowingly put herself and Lana in deadly danger. Other werewolves want to claim her for their pack, and she’s the easiest, most tempting prey ever. When they strike, Grey has to find her and rescue her before it’s too late. Not so simple a task; he has only the uncontrollable beast inside him, Wolf, and an unlikely pack of allies he’s forced to rely on. Can he get to her in time? And if he does, can he convince her he’s there for the right reasons, saving them both?

A review of book one Silver Wolf Clan posted on the blog today, be sure to check out my thoughts on the first book.

I really enjoyed Silver Wolf Clan the first in the Silver Wolf Clan series by Tera Shanley and dove right into Black Wolf’s Revenge. Fast paced, with twists, drama and danger I quickly consumed this. Despite being a little annoyed to find this was another novella I am eager to continue Morgan and Grey’s story.

I finished Silver Wolf Clan and started reading this almost immediately figuring I would read a couple chapters and see where this one picked up. I closed the first book thinking Morgan and Grey were starting their own pack…GADS! Nope, nope, Nope.

Ok, admittedly I did not read the synopsis, which clearly states, “Houston, we have a problem.” I hate relationship drama and miscommunication and that is where we find ourselves. Grrr. Morgan and Grey both have strong personalities and this led to Morgan and Lana moving back to their own house. Which causes Grey to lose himself to his Wolf. Both are stubborn and clueless.  I know a thirteen-year-old wolf with more sense in her pinkie toe. Shanley does know how to spin a yarn though and I found myself caught up in developing friendships within the packs, all while giving our couple the stink eye.

Shanley takes us on one heck of an action packed ride when Lana and Morgan finding themselves in danger. Grey and Wolf go berserk and man did I feel sorry for the fools who messed with him.  Despite being, a novella Shanley gave us a nice beginning, middle and end without it feeling rushed.  I love the interaction between the wolf packs and despite wanting to slap Grey, his wolf and Morgan in the back of the head a few times; I totally enjoyed the ride, got all of the feels and will be back for more.

I agree with you about the miscommunication causing relationship drama-I think that was my biggest criticism about this one. But I have enjoyed reading both of these, and I am glad you did too!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I was glad I read them and look forward to seeing what develops

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right, at least they were longer. The first was about 189 pages.

I always get a bit irritated when MCs have issues that would be easily resolved if they’d only communicate. I’m glad you enjoyed this overall – it does sound action-packed, for sure. And it’s always nice when a novella is so satisfying.

Conflict based on miscommunication annoys me too. Like is that the best you got for a book? Good thing it wasn’t all bad and you still enjoyed it somehow.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Having the first book as base helped, and really her demands were unjust.

I love me some romance tension but I feel like if I were to read this series i’m be envisioning banging their heads together and yelling “KISS GODDAMIT. KISS AND MAKEUP”. haha 🙂 Lovely review Kim 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

lol, yep..but I like getting invested like that, it did help that book one shows us the potential, and the next book should be awesome

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right, thankfully i was invested from book one, and we saw progress.

  5. Heidi

Oh no drama and miscommunciation drive me nuts too. Hopefully it is all behind them and it will settle out in book three.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I feel confident we have passed this relationship hurdle and look forward to what lies ahead

  6. Ramona

I like lots of action and situations fraught with danger! 😀 This sounds really good. I think I’ll have to buy the first book and get into it. Werewolves rock! Excellent review.

  7. Lori

How have I never heard of this series?!!! Thanks for sharing Kimberly. I love when a series is so good you can’t help but reading them back to back. Another one for the TBR pile! 🙂

Disappointed about the romance difficulties, those can drive a person crazy, especially in a shorter length book but overall this still sounds like a series I want to check out more.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Still totally recommend and excited about where this could lead

    • kimbacaffeinate

I go in phases with my genres, and tend to mix things up between them 🙂

“I hate relationship drama and miscommunication and that is where we find ourselves. Grrr. ”

ME TOO KIM! Nothing frustrates me more, so I know I’m going to shake these two right along with you. I’m glad despite that though there were some definite highlights, and hopefully this book was the most relationship dramatic of them all so it won’t be an issue moving forward:)

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thankfully with this being a novella we moved past it..but yeah. I am excited about what happens next.

  10. Katherine

So I was intrigued by the first book but relationship drama due to stubbornness and mis-communication drives me CRAZY! Glad it got better for you but I may pass on this one.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Well, let us just say she was right and it took him a while to get it. Ya know despite some hair pulling I did enjoy myself and since it is a novella you aren’t subject to endless pages of it..now we can move forward and I am kinda anxious to see how this pack develops.

  11. Nick

Yuck relationship drama! I wish we had couples working together, because that is so much more romantic!
I’m glad you still liked it overall though, Kim!
    Great review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I did Nick, and I think they were better off for it in the end

  12. Faye

Man, this sounds so cool 😀 I feel like the action and plot here are somehow akin to Kate Daniels when it comes to intensity! And seriously, I will call a novella a success if it was able to put out an awesome story that feels complete in limited pages. that’s good in my book!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was balanced, and I really got caught up so that speaks volumes.

  13. Red Iza

Uh ho, finally, it might not be right up my alley, because relationship drama and especially miscommunication are pet peeves for me. So thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

It didn’t last too long..the drama that is and I was glad I read them.

  14. Benish

I skimmed a bit because I haven’t read the first book yet, and now I really want to 🙂 Thanks for putting another great title under my radar Kimberly.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I reviewed the first on the blog today too.I tried not to reveal anymore than the synopsis.

  15. Christy

Yeah, you definitely need the new UBB Plugin. lol. Glad it pulled through at the end for you. The relationship issues don’t sound very fun.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right…cannot wait for it. The relationship is fun, and so are the different takes on wolves.

  16. Melliane

It’s always so nice when you start a book and you can’t stop. It sounds like a great book despite the drama. Thanks for the discovery, I didn’t know about this one.
