Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

No granddaughter yet. My daughter is 85% effaced and has had contractions. At her last visit she was 1 cm dilated. My daughter is beyond ready, but we are patiently waiting for Sophia to decide she is ready. Our weather has warmed up and it is wonderful. Of course, I know this is only a tease as February and March can be brutal but 56 and sunny..heck yes. It has me longing for flip-flops. I spent more time listening to books then reading this week. A first, since usually I spend more time reading. This week tell me something about yourself. Favorite color, a secret, a quirk..confess ..go ahead.

I am getting excited Laurel. My daughter asked me to join them in the delivery room.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Of course I will post them all over the place. Her due date is the 26th but of course early would be ok too,

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Yvonne..it is like waiting for a new book release without having the exact release date..you know it could be any day now..but it could also be February 1st..gads.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes 8 days Bea..it is so exciting. My daughter and son-in-law asked me to be in the birthing room. I am kind of excited to see things from a different perspective.

  1. Michelle

    Ahh, that’s so exciting!!

Hmm I’ll tell you multiple things about myself: Favorite colors – Red, but I utterly loathe wearing it because it’s too bright. (go figure). Favorite foods – ice cream, chocolate, & strawberries…all of which i’m allergic too, go me! Quirk – I have obsessive tendencies and when stressed out I collect things, but to keep in check I play games that involve collecting things. There is a game on facebook called Hatchlings, literally all you do is click eggs and try to find new ones. Incredibly stupid, but so therapeutic and it keeps me from being on Hoarders.

Oh how exciting. I hope everything goes well for mum and bub.
A quirk of mine is that i need to check things multiple times before I’m satisfied. I.e I check that I’ve locked the house several times before leaving it. Favorite colors are pink, purple and black.

I cannot drink out of plastic or metal cups. Even my to-go coffee cup is ceramic

      • Jessica

I’m with you here. I almost always drink out of glass. It just TASTES better. Plastic retaines other tastes and odors. Though, I’ve found that water out of a large Tervis tumblr isn’t so bad as long as no other kind of liquid has ever gone in it … ever.

What an exciting time as the arrival of Sophia is so close. Good work with the #fitreaders’ challenge, and I smiled at all the holiday treats gone. Unfortunately some of mine still around! I have as yet to try an Ilona Andrews but hope to listen to an audio soon.

Fav colours yellow and purple. I like strong colours, pastels I don’t like. Oh and I did like Ashley’s post earlier in the week, those things drive me nutty.

Already? Wow! I know she’s not thinking that at all LOL, but it seems so fast to me! Well best wishes to your daughter and here’s hoping Sofia decides she’s ready sooner than later 😉 Hmmm – how a out a favorite color? Purple! I’m not ready to confess quite yet! LOL!

I’ve been gobbling up the audio too, it’s really all I’ve had time for this week. And yay, you’re doing great with FitReaders! Have a great week, I have a suspicion it will be amazing with the new grandbaby and all 😀

Time flies..except if you are expecting..then it takes forever. I love purple but red is my favorite..bright, crimson, and all shades in-between.

  5. Greg

I’m ready for flip flops… and warm breezes and barbeque. You got warm today, we did too ( a bit) Have fun when your granddaughter arrives, what an exciting time. Have a great week.

LEt’s see… I have a Nook but never read on it (much)… I usually just play games.
Greg recently posted…Sunday Post #78My Profile

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL..I have the Nook HD and read on in 98% of time. I love that I can adjust the font. Yes flip-flops and BBQ.. *sighs dreamily*

  6. Katherine

I spent 2 or 3 weeks at 80% and 2 cm with the Tornado. Hopefully that won’t be the case for your daughter but if it is I hope she has a labor like mine – 5 hours basically from start to finish. Good luck to everyone and I love the name Sophia. It’s such a pretty name and will work for a little girl and an adult.
My confession for the week – my favorite color is green line to the point we realized almost every wall in the house is either painted a shade of green or is planned to be painter green. It’s gotten a bit better since we noticed it but it was a little crazy!

    • kimbacaffeinate

hehe..my living room is green and our old bedroom in Virginia was green. I loved it. She isn’t due till the 26th. She had contractions 30 mins apart all night Thursday and they went away. She sees her doc on Weds and I have a feeling she dilated more. Everyone’s 2-go bags are packed. I have my Nook, charger, phone charger and change for coffee machine ready..lol

  7. La La in the Library

I will have to come back and check out The Walled City post. I have that title sitting on my Kindle. I am getting ready to listen to my very first audio book this next week. How exciting for the grandbaby’s arrival. I hope you are holding her soon. A quirk I have is the minute I get home I have to have bare feet. No slippers, no socks, nada! Even if it is cold I will just tuck my feet up underneath myself to keep them warm.

So exciting about your grandchild. You will have a lot to look forward to this week. A baby. There’s nothing more special. I wish you all the best. I can’t wait to read your review of First Frost as I just finished mine as well. Something gab out me….well… I emailed my second novel to my editor tonight. Hope to release Her Sisters Shoes late spring.

My first daughter took her sweet time before she finally decided to show herself, lost the waters on a monday evening and she was finally born on wednesday – and for the youngest, I barely had time to reach the hospital ! You won’t have to wait for long 🙂
Just love that random picture lol ! A quirk, secret ?… When I was a kid, my favorite color was blue. As a young adult, I prefered green because I love nature. And now, guess what it is – even my hair is red lol
Have a great week, i’m sure it will be filled with happy news and times and love 🙂

  11. Trish

Exciting! Your your little lady decides to make an appearance soon 🙂 Sounds like it won’t be long more!
And a quirk about me is that I don’t instinctively know my left from my right. I have to stop and consider it. I’m always in front of the cooker, considering which button I need to switch on! It’s weird.
Hope all the books are great but you’ll be so busy celebrating your new granddaughter that you might have less time this week for them 🙂

  12. Lexxie

Very nice haul this week, Kim. I got This Heart of Mine last week, and I’m really looking forward to it.
Your daughter must be so impatient to meet her daughter now. I remember how I felt like I would never go into labor.
My favorite color is purple. It used to be blue, but as I’ve gotten older, it’s now purple, I’ve even had purple stripes in my hair 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading.

  14. A Voracious Reader

*doing the excited jiggling from foot to foot dance* Oh, oh, oh! So excited! Come on, Sophia! Come out and join us. We have cookies. And books!

Hmmm…a secret about myself? *does best Pooh impression, thinkthinkthink* I hate peanut butter and jelly. The closest I come to the American staple is I’ll put pb on one side of a bagel and jelly on the other, but eat them separately. Not so much a secret I guess, as a quirk. 😀
A Voracious Reader recently posted…The Sunday Post ~ 76th EditionMy Profile

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love peanut butter and jelly but it must be on super fresh bread and then I am only in the mood for it once or twice a year. The bagel sounds good. We walked the mall Saturday hoping to move things along, but nothing. I will anxious to see if she has had any movement on Weds.

  15. Camille

I see Sophia’s taking her sweet time. ^_^ All the best to you, your family, and your soon-to-be born granddaughter! 🙂 Well, my favorite color’s green and I just saw Pope Francis up-close and in the flesh after waiting for 3 hours for his convoy to drive by here in the Philippines. 🙂 Have a great week ahead, Kim!

How exciting you saw him. I do like green. My living room has green walls and they look lovely. My favorite color is red and I have it accented all over the house.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes..I am thinking she will come after her due date despite all this movement..but don’t tell my daughter that. The idea of waiting 8 days to her is like a child counting down till Christmas in February..lol

  16. Lola

I hope your granddaughter is there soon! And yay for warmer weather, it’s been a mild winter so far here.
My favourite colour is green, hence the reason I choose that colour for my blog. But I also love a lot of other colours. Green and brown always makes me think of ature and makes me feel at ease. For a quirk, how about the fact that I always have to open different tabs on my internet browser in a specific order, mail first, then facebook, then blog, then lola’s blog tours e-mail.

Such an exciting time for you all. I hope all goes smoothly and Sophia makes a graceful entrance!

My husband and I have the radio on and listen to the BBC all night long! We love the sound of British voices, I guess.

  18. Holly

I think I need to make a list of my quirks so that when asked a question about them I can just refer to my list because when I’m asked on the spot I can’t think of anything! Though I know there are many. I don’t really have a favorite color…though I’m probably drawn to a lot of blue shades if one were to look in my closet. Our temp this weekend was in the low 60’s and you better believe I was in flip flops the whole time! Shoot, I’ll wear flip flops in 50 degree weather. Enjoy your week!

  19. Stormi

  20. Catherine

Nice new books to keep you occupied while you wait…maybe by the time you read this, Sophia will have arrived.

Glad you’re getting a bit of warmer weather, It hasn’t been getting much above 29F recently. BTW, my favorite color is green, followed by purple. Hope the wait is over soon.

Anytime Anna. 8 days till due date, it won’t belong now.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes, I do think you are right..best release date to be sure 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I am excited yes..but I think the wait is killing her. She is so uncomfortable.

  21. Michelle

My daughter didn’t want to come out either. Tell her to just relax because once that little cutie comes out it will be a whole new world! So very happy for you all.

Tell you something…ok since we talk babies, I had a c-section with my daughter and when the doctor took her out she said “Wow look at the pout on this ones face, your in trouble” truer words have never been spoken. That little girl is a handful and still makes the pout 🙂

  22. Kathy

That is exciting you are on baby watch! It seems like the first babies can be stubborn and take their time. At least that’s how it was for me – my first daughter was born a week after my due date and my second daughter was born 2 weeks before my due date.

Speaking of being late, tardiness is one of my quirks. I am almost always on time so it bothers me when people aren’t. Especially for family gatherings, we know who will be late so we always give them an earlier time to meet lol.

Congratulations to you and your family! Have a great week!

    Something about myself, hmm….
This may sound weird, but I like the smell of my dogs feet! LOL They smell like earth and grass and it makes me think of when I was younger and would lie in the grass just enjoying the scents and sounds around me. Wouldn’t dare do it here as the fire ants would eat me up. LOL

Well this just means you’ll have BIG news next week! I was a baby who waited until I wanted to come too… when everyone at the hospital was asleep but my mother.

Nice new books, too . That should keep you busy until the kiddo comes.

  25. Rita

Congrats on Sophia’s journey to meet her family…hope it’s soon for your
    daughter’s sake!

Here’s a boring thing to confess, my favorite colors are blended shades of blues and greens– peaceful… and reminds me of the ocean and grassy fields 🙂

A more exciting confession– I have to get a handle on my book buying addiction soon and will probably feature some titles released before the past few months to read and review. They’re still books, so we don’t only need to read the newest ones, right? That’s what great about the book blogging community…room for everyone’s writing style, reading genres and diverse locations and personalities!

  26. Ramona

Very excited about your daughter, Kimba!!! I bet you’re just dying to hold Sophia in your arms already… And what a beautiful name! You do know it has Greek roots, and it means “sage, wise”, right? If I had a little girl, I would definitely consider naming her Sophia. Otherwise, glad to hear your weather is improving, here is still below freezing and so unpleasant, ugh! Your book haul looks awesome too. As for a secret? When I was younger, I was sure that when I’d grow up and have my own family, it would count five kids precisely 🙂 Sad to say, I stopped at one. Life is funny like that… Have an awesome Sunday, Kimba!

Something about me? I’m a chocoholic. I particularly love dark chocolate, but I’m also really addicted to Cadbury Fruit and Nut bars. (They’re better in England than in the US, though – slightly different chocolate formula.)
