No one creates realms like New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop. Now in a thrilling new fantasy series, enter a world inhabited by the Others, unearthly entities—vampires and shape-shifters among them—who rule the Earth and whose prey are humans. As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut—a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg’s Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard—a business district operated by the Others. Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she’s keeping a secret, and second, she doesn’t smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg the job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she’s wanted by the government, he’ll have to decide if she’s worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow.

Brilliant and refreshing with outstanding world-building I credit this audio with igniting my passion for audiobooks 🙂

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more. The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard – Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader – wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat. As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet – and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

I am in love with this series and the narrator brilliantly brings the world and characters to life highlighting the talents of Bishop.

Series: The Others #3

Genres: Urban Fantasy
Purchase: Amazon|Audible

The Others freed the cassandra sangue to protect the blood prophets from exploitation, not realizing their actions would have dire consequences. Now the fragile seers are in greater danger than ever before—both from their own weaknesses and from those who seek to control their divinations for wicked purposes. In desperate need of answers, Simon Wolfgard, a shape-shifter leader among the Others, has no choice but to enlist blood prophet Meg Corbyn’s help, regardless of the risks she faces by aiding him. Meg is still deep in the throes of her addiction to the euphoria she feels when she cuts and speaks prophecy. She knows each slice of her blade tempts death. But Others and humans alike need answers, and her visions may be Simon’s only hope of ending the conflict. For the shadows of war are deepening across the Atlantik, and the prejudice of a fanatic faction is threatening to bring the battle right to Meg and Simon’s doorstep…

I have already read Vision in Silver and have my audio copy pre-ordered. This is a series I own in all three formats- Hardcover, eBook and Audio. What I really pine for are signed copies. *shrugs* Yeah, I am a total fan girl for this series.

I’ve never been overly fond of audiobooks, but I just started listening to them again in earnest this past week and I can’t believe I haven’t been doing this sooner! The Peculiar by Stefan Bachmann was fantastic, as well Alias Hook by Lisa Jensen. I’m listening to The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

Thanks for the giveaway. I love audiobooks, especially in digital format…..no swapping out discs or discs skipping because they’re scratched.

  3. La La in the Library

I really want to start loving audio books. I have ten or twelve now, but I just need to get started. I have Brown Girl Dreaming to review during Black History Month, so maybe that will break me in. From listening to the samples I think The Thirteenth Tale is going to be my favorite one bcause the narrators have British accents. Thanks for hosting the hop giveaway and for the extra giveaway. Stellar!

I only very recently got into audiobooks, as of last year. There were a few reasons I didn’t (used) to like them, one of them being thatI found it so slow and that it was much quicker to read. BUT when I figured out you can speed up the narrator I really thought I’d try it, especially since with working so much I don’t have as much time to read, but the commute there and back can be some good and productive ..not to mention fun time spent listening!
My favorite audiobook of last year was Doll Bones by Holly Black. I just loved it. I haven’t listened to too many audiobooks, but the few that I have ..this one definitely stood out. Thanks for the rec’s kim and the giveaway 😀

I love The Others serie too. I don’t like the narrator though. She makes Simon sound like Scooby Doo. 🙁
If I have to pick only one audiobook I would pick The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson… ok there are two books, but it’s impossible to choose just one from them.

I’m a huge audiobook junkie. There are so many great books to recommend. One I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of The Princess Bride, As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales of the Making of The Princess Bride written and narrated by Cary Elwes (Westley). I really enjoyed that book. Made me appreciate the movie even more.

I’ve read these in book form and love them. The Audible edition sounds good, too. I love that there are so many great narrators which help bring the books alive.

(BTW, I’m still having problems with my comments showing up after I submit them. I’m never sure if they do actually show up! Do you have any idea why this has been happening for the last month or so?)

I’ve read some great ones though. Or course there’s the Outlander books. Davina Porter is amazing. I’m so glad I got the books on audio because I know I wouldn’t have read them with my eyes LOL.
