Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves. From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her. Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.

A Cured Bloodline is the fourth book in Cecy Robson’s Weird Girls one of my current favorite series. It is urban fantasy series-featuring sisters who have unique abilities and takes place in the Lake Tahoe region. In A Cursed Bloodline, Robson splayed my heart open, chewed it and then carefully stitched it back together again.

Coffee Date with A Cursed Bloodline

First Date: Cecy Robson does not waste anytime dropping us back into the story and boy howdy are we in for a ride. Anara, a werewolf elder whose balls I would like to tie to the back of my Chevy threatens Celia. She is to serve her mate bond with Aric or he will kill everyone she holds dear. To top it off, Celia is carrying a secret. We have not even dug into the story yet and I need truffles, lots and lots of truffles.

Second Date: It is official everyone things Celia is crazy, most of all Aric. You would think things could not get worse, but do not be fooled. Between Misha planning their wedding, (the vamp will never learn) and outside threats Celia is in trouble. She finds help from Daniel. I like Daniel and we learn more about him.  The action is intense, brutal and no one is safe. Eep! I am torn between needing to set the novel down so I can breathe for a moment and needing to continue.

Third Date: (curls into fetal position) A Cursed Bloodline is dark, gritty and brutally violent. There is blood dripping from my Nook. I have bitten off all of my nails and cried. I cannot decide if I love Robson or hate her. I am experiencing so many “feels” She takes me to happy places, and I am completely giddy, than she rips it all apart. There is no turning back now; I need to find out how this date ends.

Outcome: My legs are still shaking from this powerful, fast-paced, and violent tale. A Cursed Bloodline will make your heart race and you will shed a friggin’ tears. Robson slowed the cart down before tossing me off the ride but she left me with unanswered questions, tears to shed and dare I say it..a glimmer of hope. I needs more truffles! After finishing A Cursed Bloodline, I spend the weekend worrying if this was the end. Was I going to get answers, what about the other sisters? Before busting out another packages of truffles I stalked browsed Robson’s Facebook page only to learn that she just signed another deal with Penguin for more Weird Girl novels. Praise the lord! *bites into truffle.

Wow! I’m so glad this series is going strong, Kimba, and that this latest installment is your fav. This is a series I’ve been meaning to start but just haven’t found the time yet. I think I’ll move it up in priority though. 😉

  2. Berls

Hmm so I read the first book in the series this year and it was just ok for me, but you have me rethinking it. Maybe I need to give the series another shot? I mean I always planned to continue it, but not in a hurry. How did you feel about the first book? (if you remember)

    • kimbacaffeinate

The link to my review is in book info above I am thinking I gave it a four or four 1/2 cup. I love this series hard.

  3. Lupdilup

All of you loved this book, you can’t all be wrong..I know! I l’ve listened to the first two books in the series and I really enjoyed them, It’s your fault that series keeps falling of my radar…You keep waiving brand new shiny stuff every day…LOL
    Thank you 🙂

I love how your description matched the tone of the book:

“In A Cursed Bloodline, Robson splayed my heart open, chewed it and then carefully stitched it back together again.”

This one hit me hard too. Some authors can be real sadists. I was a gibbering mess by the time it ended, but like an addict I was looking about me for the next installment. 😉

    Nice review, Kimba!

This was just too dark for me, I’m afraid. It didn’t sit well with me at all. I usually enjoy darker UF, but this made me feel awful, probably because a baby was involved. Ah well, you can’t win them all. I still enjoy the series very much.

  7. Heidi

I know this was intense, violent and gritty, but I am loving this series. Cecy told me there is only one more book featuring Aric and Celia then it will move onto the other girls. Thank god. Those two deserve a HEA after all the drama.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yep, if you look in my comments she gave us the tentative titles..i cannot wait!

  8. Carrie

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading any of this series yet. I like synopsis and your review is fantastic. I’ll put this in my list.

This really was intense, way more than the other three but so worth it to read. I really loved it and can’t wait for book four but super sad it will be the final book for Celia.

  14. Cecy

Hi, Kimberly! Thank you so much for being part of my blog tour and for your lovely-truffle-craving review. A Cursed Bloodline is a heavy book and packed with many elements. It’s one of my novels and I’m very happy you enjoyed it. The next novel is A Curse Unbroken which marks the end of Celia’s journey for now. She needs a break after all, and it’s time for Taran to take the spotlight. Taran’s three novels and one novella are tent. titled Of Flame and Light, Of Flame and Fury, Of Flame and Fate, and Of Flame and Promise. Thank you, again, and to those who stopped by. I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the series. *sends virtual truffles*

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh I cannot wait and love the tentative titles! Yes we need the others stories, but so glad we get a little more on Celia. *munches on truffle*
