It's Not Easy Being Right... Vanessa Campbell is a CPA by day and a perfectionist by night. She's fit, successful...and decidedly lonely. She can't stop thinking about the youngest McCauley brother, Cameron. He's just like her: smart, attractive, and usually right—except when dealing with her. ...But Someone's Got To Do It. Cameron McCauley likes Vanessa a little too well. She's a blond goddess with a razor-sharp tongue. She hates to be wrong, just like him. But she can hold a grudge and is stubborn to a fault—also like him. A past misunderstanding has them rubbing each other the wrong way. Cam is dying to shake Vanessa up—get her to let loose. But if he succeeds, can his heart handle it?

I love the McCauley Brothers series by Marie Harte and Ruining Mr. Perfect gave us Cameron, the youngest McCauley’s story, along with a few side stories that gave it a small-town vibe. From page one Harte grabbed me, and I devoured this as I laughed, sighed and crossed my fingers. If you haven’t tried this series yet, I highly recommend it to fans of BROTHERS *yummy brothers*, small-town feels, family and just the right amount of heat.

Caffeinated Dates with Ruining Mr. Perfect

First Date: In the previous novel Vanessa Campbell our little perfectionist, drill sergeant and number geek shared a rather smokin’ hot kiss with Cameron. He is the youngest McCauley, who unlike his brother’s isn’t in the family construction business, prefers apple-flavored beers, eats healthy and is neat. Nothing has happened since then, but Cameron is finding opportunities to spend time with her. Vanessa is impossibly attracted to him, but with her roommates dating his brothers it could get messy and Vanessa doesn’t do messy.

Second Date: I love the little tango, denial and friendship developing between them. Talks at the gym, and a situation push them into spending time together and ooh-la-la the sparks, the heat, the view. I am melting as I try to both savor and move forward to my HEA. Meanwhile, there is trouble at the McCauley homestead, and it is shaking up the boys. Mike and Delilah butt heads and the brothers dish and tease each other. I adore the small-town vibe, side stories and updates regarding previous couples.

Third Date: Vanessa and Cameron are so hot together, but Vanessa has some hang-ups and trust issues that are making things difficult. Miscommunication, feelings, fears and an unexpected complication throw a bump into the relationship. Of course, family and friends are there to offer advice and help the couple out. Other threads wrap us as our couple grows in their relationship. The chemistry between Cannon and Vanessa was delightful from their banter to sexy time making this date the most precious as I rooted for them.

I enjoyed my dates with Ruining Mr. Perfect and recommend the series to fans of brothers, friendships, and family. Fans of Bella Andre will enjoy this series. What to Do with a Bad Boy the next book features Mike and his son.

I’m glad you enjoyed this one. I could see the mistake that wasn’t a mistake a mile away because that was just too perfect for Vanessa and I definitely enjoyed seeing both characters sweat a little but then make the decisions they did and fight for each other. The next book was my favorite from this series. Just something about Del that I just loved. Tough girl with a soft heart and I loved her dad too. 🙂 Great review!

This sounds awesome! Though maybe a bit frustrating too? Either way, I think I would enjoy it. Great review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

The frustration level was just enough to keep you engaged and not banging your head on your eReader Lisa 🙂

  5. Sarah

ooooh, this sounds very much like something I would read… Gotta add this to the TBR asap. Stop feeding my addiction, woman!!! Hehehe

    • kimbacaffeinate

Marie Harte is an author whose name seems to be popping into my vision every so often and this sounds like a good series to try her out.

Her stories flow well and have heart to them 🙂 Kathryn.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Not to much drama..or that spoils it..just enough to keep you engaged.

  7. Quinn's Book Nook

I’ve been so into small-town contemporary romance lately, and this series looks adorable! I soo need to check it out. I definitely love swoony brothers!!

Between you and Christy, I’m going to buy the first one. NOT the second, not this one, I’m starting on the first one 😀 Actually, I better check and make sure I don’t own it – I think Amazon will warn me, riiiiggght?!?!?!? Eh, you have a Nook, no?

I loved your review! I can totally tell these small town/brothers books are a fun favorite of yours. You eat them for breakfast, right? 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Yes you need to read them all. Yep, these make great little snacks for me and I lose myself in them till the last page.

As you’ve probably guessed, I have a weakness for smexy brothers, and after reading your review I’ve come to the conclusion that I must meet The McCauley. I know that this is Contemporary so that means they’ll all be spoken for by the end of this series, but fictional boyfriends aren’t considered cheating, right? 😉

  10. The Brunette Bookworm

This book and series sounds fantastic! I’m excited to check it out!

  11. Braine Talk Supe

I just read the one before this and loved it too! I’m holding off on my review (coz I’m lazy) til I read this and the next one.

I’m so happy Cam and Vanessa’s story is a winner too! They make me nervous coz both of them are so uptight and Type A… fun fact I would be able to relate because I can identify with them like that. Stick up my ass I have sometimes… or maybe most of the time 😛

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was fun and I can relate being anal myself. I am loving this series Braine..enjoy!

    • kimbacaffeinate

It is good to be back. LOL, sorry about the TBR pile..but yes this series is a must!

  12. Lily

I have a feeling I’ll totally get along with Vanessa in this one. She seems like a fun character! Great review 🙂

I haven’t heard of this series but it sounds like my favorite type – small towns, siblings, companion books. YES. I just put these on my wishlist for amazon. Thanks for sharing this! LOVE books like these!!!

I hate these in my books, but I’m willing to give this series a shot because it sounds like so much fun. I know Andrea pretty much loves this series, so I think I would really like it too. I already have book 1 on my Nook! It only needs to be read and you’ve convinced me, Kim! 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

The key here..is that it isn’t beaten to death..there is just enough to keep you engaged without frustrating you Nick.

  16. kindlemom1

This is the second time I have seen a really good review for this, I definitely need to read it! It sounds like it would make a great read on a long weekend!

    • kimbacaffeinate

  17. Melliane

It sounds like a good romance, not an easy one but a hot one though! I’m curious to discover the 2 characters.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Sometimes the complicated ones are the most interesting:)
