Nine Years Gone
by Chris Culver
Genre: Mystery
Purchase: Amazon

Nine years ago, Steve Hale saved the love of his life from her abusive and very powerful stepfather by helping her disappear and framing him for her murder. Today, that stepfather is dead, executed by the state of Missouri for a crime he didn’t commit, and Steve has a loving wife, a little girl who depends on him, a home, a career – everything he ever wanted and believed he could never have. He also has a new voice mail from a woman the rest of the world believes is dead. A reunion with his former girlfriend quickly sours when Steve realizes that her stories don’t match up – the one she told nine years ago and the one she told today. As he unravels her twisted knot of lies, he discovers that events are already in motion and plans are being carried out. Unwittingly, he’s hurtling toward a dark secret – one some very dangerous people are willing to protect at any cost.

“Like Blue Velvet and Hitchcock films, NINE YEARS GONE tries to capture something dark and sinister just beneath the thin facade of everyday living… Thrilling, disturbing and at times gut-wrenching, NINE YEARS GONE is a fast-paced, tightly executed thriller with little breathing room and a penchant for not being able to be put down for long.”

“Chris Culver is a daring new voice in crime fiction.”
—Jeff Abbott, New York Times bestselling author of Downfall

“Chris Culver is a writer to watch for years to come.”
—C.J. Box, New York Times bestselling author of Breaking Point and The Highway

It really rare anymore for a mystery to surprise me since I figure them out so soon. So I love it went it can still take me on a ride and keep me totally interested despite already figuring out the outcome. That will always impress me.

AHHH I just read the synopsis and I’m already dying! I need this book! I usually stay away from thrillers/mysteries these days since they just don’t do it for me anymore and I always end up guessing what’s going to happen and how it all ends so that takes away the ‘mystery’ part of the book LOL
This one looks really good though! I’m loving the synopsis and have already added it to my TBR pile! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I love twists and turns and discovering secrets. I guess I’m just nosy especially when it comes to mysteries! This sounds like a good one. Anything that gets compared to Hitchcock is generally going to hook me though!

My favorite thing about a good mystery is the suspense! I like it when I still don’t know who did it up until the very end. I like darker, more shadowy characters wher emotives are unclear and they’re not all good and not all bad. I like how it unfolds and you’re left scratching your head at the end, usually mad that you didn’t see it coming. Perfect beach reading if you ask me!

I love a good mystery to keep me guessing, Not too suspenseful but just enough to keep the pages and my mind turning.

I love that a good mystery so engrosses me in its plot that I forget all my cares as I take on the fictional ones presented for stimulation’s sake…exciting and relaxing at once!
