Two psychics – one serial killer. Someone is stalking women and murdering them in Key West. Levi Wolfe and Trudy Tucker join forces to help identify the murderer and stop him. Levi can channel the deceased victims and Trudy can tap into the mind of the killer. As a psychic detective team, they’re formidable. As lovers, they discover that they’re insatiable. But if Trudy can see through the killer’s eyes, can the killer see her?

Through His Eyes by Deborah Camp was a fun paranormal murder mystery with a side dish of romance. The tale offered up plenty of paranormal woo-woo from ghost advisers to a psychic team that together could walk inside the mind of the killer and his victims. Fast paced with a snarky protagonist and drop dead gorgeous television psychic I quickly consumed Through His Eyes.

Coffee Dates with Through His Eyes:

First Date: We meet Trudy Tucker a psychic who is still learning to harness her skills. Plagued by nightmares and visions, she can walk in the mind of a killer. When she dreams of the killer stalking victims in Key West, she joins her friend and adviser to team up with the gorgeous and talented Levi Wolfe. I loved Tucker from her little dog to her traveling home on wheels. I love when I slip right into a story and Camp drew me in from page one.

Second date: Trudy is snarky,  in part because people are dolts, but also to cover up some confidence issues. She finds Levi seriously attractive and it pisses her off a little. TV shows, and rumors ping him as a player and she is convinced woman fall at his feet. The fact that she finds him sexy and feels like a blushing teenager unnerves her, and it was at times hilarious. These two are destined to tango; it is just a matter of when. Levi is charismatic, and he has used that to help law enforcement, publish his books and appear as a guest speaker. He runs his gift like a business and has no qualms about it. He is attracted to Trudy and makes his intentions clear. The murders are brutal and seeing into the mind of the victims and killer was fascinating. Camp made it feel realistic, and showed Trudy’s struggle to let go and use her gift.

Third Date: Spirit Guides, a major hint, more victims and heat between the sheets have me flipping the pages. I am enjoying Trudy and Levi’s interactions from the banter to the sexy time. He may be more experienced, but his feelings for Trudy upend him. There is no insta-love, but a slow realistic build-up. The final scenes are a frenzy, riddled with danger and Camp delivers the mother of all cliffhangers!! I was freaked out…that is until I saw there is a companion book coming in September. Thank you because I might have thrown my Nook across the room and promptly stomped on it! Through His Touch, the second novel will be available September 1st and I cannot wait to find out what is happening. Eep.

Fans of romantic suspense and paranormal woo-woo will enjoy Through His Eyes. Camp offers fleshed out, realistic characters with unusual gifts and a plot that notched up the suspense.

This sounds so good! I love a good serial killer psychic book and I have read bunches of them. I will definitely be trying this one! Thanks for steering me towards it. Great Review 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

It was good Lorna and I am glad you are going to try it!

  2. Faye D'Social Potato

What does Paranormal Woo-Woo mean? @_@ Does it mean ghosts? Haha! I don’t like the cover that much, though – feels like Photoshop gone wrong, but I do like the premise. Anything with spiritual and supernatural in it makes me giddy~

    • kimbacaffeinate

hahaha..Kat Richardson refers to any paranormal activity that way..so it can mean ghosts, physics, mysterious happens etc.

  3. Lark

Sounds like a good book, but I’m with you on unexpected cliffhangers! But don’t throw your Nook! They don’t handle it well. 😉

    • kimbacaffeinate

LOL, the relationship continues to develop in book two and I am anxious to dive back in..LOL

  4. Heidi

sounds like an excellent book, I think I will wait until the next book is out, I don’t want to be frustrated by a cliffhanger!

    • Deborah Camp

Awww, Heidi! That’s part of the fun! Anticipation. 🙂 Think of it as foreplay!

    • kimbacaffeinate

:snort: The next book releases Sept 1st..not to long! LOL

  5. Candace

I never would have randomly picked this up but your review has me really wanting to read it! I LOVE books with psychics. This might get a bit intense for me but I think I can deal. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I think you can more than handle this one Candace..enjoy!

  6. Livia

Heeeey, I was part of the novel’s tour at some point! I never forget a cover 😀
This sounds like such an awesome read, it totally makes me think about Patrick Jane in The Mentalist 😀 Am I right, is there some vibe of that nature about Levi maybe? That would SO make me need to read this right now, lol 😀

    • kimbacaffeinate

Levi has the same kind of charisma as Jane Livia 🙂

        • kimbacaffeinate

Wahoo! Be sure and let me know what you think Livia and book two is being released September 1st..so perfect timing!

  7. Berls

Man that concept is fantastic! I get the creeps just thinking about being inside the mind of a serial killer! I imagine that this has some serious crime solving/procedural elements (which you know I’m not a huge fan of) but the paranormal woo-woo might just make this a great read for me still! Great review Kimba 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Right, it was pretty freaky and Camp did an excellent job of making it believable.

    • Deborah Camp

It’s not really a procedural crime novel. It’s more like a budding romance between two people who happen to be psychic, which has resulted in them having “issues” they have to get past if they want to live fulfilling lives. There is a major crime taking place in each novel. #2 will be out in September. These are character driven books.

  8. Jenea

Slow building romance, some paranormalcy and a murder mystery, yes please! Sounds amazing Kim. Wonderful review.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha, agreed Jenea. I hope you get a chance to try it!

    • Deborah Camp

The romance continues to build in #2 — Through His Touch.

  9. Stormi

Sounds like a really interesting one that I have not heard of, going to put it on my list of books to check out. Great review. 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Glad I could introduce you to a new read Stormi. Thanks and enjoy!

    • Deborah Camp

Debbie, please let me know if you like the book or not. I’ll be interested to know your opinions of it. Cheers!

  10. sherry fundin

I love books like these, they contain some of my favorite genres smooshed (?) together. I added to my reading list. Thanks for the introduction to Deborah Camp. ^_^

    • kimbacaffeinate

I liked that this had elements of mystery, crime and paranormal Sherry it made for a page turning read.

    • Deborah Camp

Sherry, I hope you enjoy it! If you have time, let me know what you think of it.

  11. Rita

Sounds interesting to me but that cover….creepy! I am freaked by his eyes, sorry! I like no insta-love and wish more romantic suspenses would make the love chase more interesting.

  12. Carmel

I like that there’s no insta-love, and you know how much I love my paranormal woo-woo. I totally have to use that word in one of my reviews. LOL Trudy Tucker reminds me a bit of Jaime Vegas from Kelley Armstrong’s WOTO series who I LOVE. Thanks for adding to my TBR pile, Kimberly. 😉

    • kimbacaffeinate

The credit goes to one of my favorite authors- Kat Richardson she used the phrase “paranormal woo-woo” on a radio interview and gads I love it. Since then it is one I use often. LOL

  13. Nick

A fun paranormal series is exactly what I need right now with the crazy book slump that I seem to be going through this week. I need something as entertaining as this book with a sweet and spicy romance!
Glad you enjoyed this one, Kim! 🙂

  14. Deborah Camp

Thank you all for your willingness to give my novel a try. I loved writing it. I’ve wanted to write it for about 10 years, but I was busy with other writing projects. The second one was also fun to write because I’m very invested in these characters. I love misunderstood bad boys and Levi is the ultimate. Trudy is also smart and brave.

    • kimbacaffeinate

You are welcome, thanks for an entertaining read:)

  15. Franny

This seems like a very cool read, I’m intrigued! Though I hate the cover model with my guts, haha 🙂
    Great review, Kimberly!

      • Franny

        LOL Deborah!
It’s nothing personal, though, I just don’t find him attractive. He’s been on so many covers that he’s just lost his appeal. But I’ll certainly give this a try when I’m able to clear my endless TBR 🙂

        • Deborah Camp

Franny, that’s okay. I know he’s used a lot because he has many, many cool photos. He happens to be the “type” I wanted for the cover. I wouldn’t kick him out of bed! 🙂

  16. kim { Book Swoon }

This might be a fun one for me – I don’t read too many suspenses, but paranormal woo-woo and romance are my goto books. Wow, that ending must have been major, thank goodness book two September. Thanks for bringing a new *woo-woo* romance to my attention, Kimba :_

    • kimbacaffeinate

You are welcome and I hope you pick it up 🙂

  17. Melliane

I love stories about psychic, it’s always interesting. It’s the first time I hear about this one and I’m curious I’m curious about Trudy. Thanks for the review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

I like them too Melliane and I am glad I could share this

  18. laura thomas

I’m glad your Nook survived. LOL I like a slow building romance. The inst-love gets old after a while.
Two psychics and a serial killer. I’m in!

  19. Rashika

Romantic Suspense and Paranormal Woo Woo, you say??? I am curious…
I don’t usually read mashups of the two for some reason even though I have a handful on my TBR.

I am definitely curious though so I am going to add this to my TBR and then see 😛

I am glad you enjoyed this, Kimba!! 🙂

    Great review!

  20. Lily

Oh this one wasn’t on my radar but i’m glad you enjoyed this one and it looks like something i’d enjoy! Plus the romance is something i know i’d enjoy!

  21. Tanja

I haven’t heard of this one but it sounds really good. I like that there is no insta-love and that their relationship developed nicely. So glad you enjoyed this one. Great review, Kim 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

Thanks Tanja, yeah it was refreshing and something we rarely see

  22. Siiri

Lol! Idk why, but based on the cover I didn’t think it was a ghost story, but a Greek mythology-inspired something. Don’t ask. Ha! I’m glad it has more of a slow-build than insta. Trudy sounds wonderful and her chem with Tucker just the same. Eeep! I’m glad you’ll be able to read more 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

It isn’t really a ghost story either..LOL. More of a murder mystery with paranormal elements. Thanks Siiri and yes I will be exploring book two
