Waiting on Wednesday
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It’s a chance to showcase upcoming releases we are interested in or drooling over. This week I am “Waiting On” on two novels. Mortal Hearts is part of the young adult series His Fair Assassins and Suddenly Last Summer is the second in the adult romantic contemporary series the O’Neil Brothers set against the Vermont mountains.  Check them out and then tell me what you are “waiting on”.

Mortal HeartMortal Heart
by Robin LaFevers
Series: His Fair Assassin #3
Publication date: November 4th, 2014
Pre-order: Amazon

Annith has watched her gifted sisters at the convent come and go, carrying out their dark dealings in the name of St. Mortain, patiently awaiting her own turn to serve Death. But her worst fears are realized when she discovers she is being groomed by the abbess as a Seeress, to be forever sequestered in the rock and stone womb of the convent. Feeling sorely betrayed, Annith decides to strike out on her own. She has spent her whole life training to be an assassin. Just because the convent has changed its mind doesn’t mean she has.

Squee..if you remember I rated the second book Dark Triumph, six cups of coffee out of five.  I am so anxious to continue this tale. LeFevers spins history, romance and danger into a stories that leave me breathless.

Suddenly Last SummerSuddenly Last Summer
by Sarah Morgan
Series: O’Neil Brothers #2
Publication date: June 24, 2014
Pre-order: Amazon

Bestselling author Sarah Morgan delivers another irresistible hero in her O’Neil Brothers series who’s more tempting than dessert and twice as sinful! Fiery French chef Élise Philippe is having a seriously bad day. Not only have the opening day plans for her beloved café fallen apart, but Sean O’Neil is back in town, and looking more delectable than ever. Last summer, they shared an electrifying night together…and the memories have Élise really struggling to stick to her one-night-only rule! Her head knows that eventually Sean will be leaving, so all she can do is try to ignore her heart before she spontaneously combusts with lust. Being back in Vermont—even temporarily—is surgeon Sean O’Neil’s worst nightmare. For Sean, returning home to the Snow Crystal Resort means being forced to confront the reasons and the guilt he feels about rejecting his family’s rural lifestyle years ago. But discovering that Élise has settled in Vermont and still sets his blood racing is a very welcome distraction! Thinking he can persuade her into a replay of last summer is tempting, but remembering how good they are together is going to make walking away more difficult than he could imagine…

I fell in love with the O’Neil brothers in book one, Sleigh Bells in the Snow and cannot wait to return to this Vermont lodge. Plus Elise is a chef and I love foodie romances. It doesn’t hurt that the O’Neil brothers are tall, dark and yummy!

What are you “waiting on?”

I can’t believe LaFevers’ third book is due to come out this year and I still haven’t started the first book yet. But I’ve put Grave Mercy high on my TBR list and I hope to get to that very soon. Thanks for sharing.

    Here’s My WoW pick :)

I keep hearing that the His Fair Assassin series only gets better, so I’m looking forward to this one too. I just have to read Dark Triumph between now and when it comes out in November ;)

I am glad I could introduce you to them Jenn. This is one of the reasons I love WoW, it’s window shopping for books

I refuse to carry on with the His Fair Assassin series. I DON’T LIKE IT when books change ‘main’ characters because then I have to deal with not getting enough of the original characters I fell in love with (Gavriel and Ismae :’)).

I really do hope you enjoy it Kimba!! :) On a side note.. I saw it on Edelweiss the other day :P

I actually came across Sleigh Bells in the Snow around Christmas time when I was looking for wintery reads but never bothered to add it. The sequel sounds more like my kind of thing (Second chance romance anyone???)

    Great Picks, Kimba!! :)

    • kimbacaffeinate

Rashika, I loved Sleigh Bells in the Snow and agree second chance romances are sweet.

Robin LaFevers newest book sounds just as amazing as the others in her series. I love the sound of her heroines in her books. Can’t wait to see if this one holds up to your expectations :)

Thanks Kim, this is my most anticipated character so fingers crossed!

Ah yes the LaFevers is a must. Loved His fair Assassin. Sadly, once again I still haven’t read book two, I need to fix that!

Did you see that this was up for request? I almost picked it up because I know I will love it but I am afraid it would take me too long to get to the second one…hmm, something I should maybe rethink.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Agreed, thanks Diana. This series blends historical fiction, magic and fantasy.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I think we all feel that way, especially with this character!

I have Grave Mercy but have not read it but I really need to. What can go wrong with assassin nuns right? And is that the same Sarah Morgan from Harlequin? I’ve read her HP books and I did like it.

Great choices Kimba! Thanks for sharing :)
