Fame, fortune, and falling in love… Movie star Smith Sullivan can't afford any distractions. He's staking his entire reputation on his new film…but he can't stop thinking about Valentina Landon and the fire he sees smoldering just beneath the surface of her cool exterior. Valentina isn't averse to sensual pleasure, or even to the idea of finding true love, but as a Hollywood business manager she's watched too many smart women fall for actors…only to be torn apart when the fairy tale comes to its inevitable end. But when intense weeks together on set turn their heated attraction into red-hot flames of passion, Smith knows he has to find a way to convince Valentina to let him get a little bit closer. Close enough to completely steal her heart…the way she's stolen his from the beginning.

Come a Little Closer is the seventh book in the Sullivans series by author Bella Andre. This series and family have been such a joy to read. Each book can be read as a standalone but together they offer up something sweeter and memorable. This story is Smith’s and I enjoyed it immensely. Mini review: sweet, hot and swoon-worthy.

Smith Sullivan is the smexy movie star of the family, and he is acting and directing  his latest film. His co-star is beautiful and sweet, but it is her older sister, Valentina, who loathes actors that has him lost in thought. The tale that unfolded was fun as Smith wooed this relationship shy, funny and brilliant woman.

Andre’s Sullivan family are all creative, gifted and close-knit and Smith cares deeply for them all. One of the most attractive things about him, besides his smokin’ hot bedroom eyes and easy manner is how he reads people. He knows when to give reassurance and  selects the perfect heartfelt gift. I melted, simply melted. Valentina is protective of her sister and manages her career. Having watched her mother blow through a bevy of actor boyfriends she is all to aware of the scene. While she is confident, professional and talented she has relationship and trust issues. Smith has his work cut out for him trying to break down those walls and I loved watching it unfold. Of course, we see the other siblings and learn about their lives. There are even a few joyous celebrations. We even learned a little about the Sullivan cousins and I was overjoyed to see we will get their stories as well.

Come a Little Closer offered up a sweet, tender and at times deliciously hot romance. Andre knows how to create just the right amount of tension and angst to keep the reader engaged. There was no skimming here as every scene felt right and slowly built towards the climax. As always the siblings got involved, and even their mother Mary offered her infinite wisdom. The tale has that small-town feel even if the siblings are slightly scattered with their careers. Valentina annoyed me a little since it was so obvious how wonderful Smith was, but Andre did a wonderful job of fleshing her out and making me connect and understand her. The chemistry between Smith and Valentina was scrumptious and at times the pages melted. The next book features the last unattached sibling, Lori or as her family refers to her, “Naughty”. I for one cannot wait.

Come a Little Closer is the perfect read for someone looking for a heated romance wrapped in small-town charm. One of my favorite series, the Sullivans deliver that feel good, happy escape I love in a romance novel. Always on My Mind, the next book in the series will be released April 29, 2014.

You are just zipping through romance series recently! I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed this one too. 🙂

I can consume those in a few hours..LOL For the past week I have been reading mystery, suspense, steampunk..I love mixing it up! 🙂

Good review, Kimba! I swear I will start this series sometime soon. And I’ll look forward to this book.

I haven’t received this book yet, but I am behind on reading this series. Why do you call him Matt when his name is Smith? Or is that his actor’s name? I thought his siblings also called him Smith.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Gads, Aurian I am glad you caught that before I shared with Amazon and Goodreads..LOL I keep calling him Matt because I am a Whovian and every time I hear the name Smith..I immediately think of Matt Smith the Doctor. *blushes*

I read the Christmas book, which was about the parents’ romance, and hope to start the series in order. I actually own all of the books & just need to get started! I hear nothing but good things. Thanks for the review!

That one made me cry, I think because I read so many of them. Enjoy Sharlene!

I was sad the whole time I read this, knowing that Jack was dead. I definitely made me cry a few times.

How cool is it that the series is still far from drying up! Win win! Quick question, how many siblings are there? 7 kids and counting?

    • kimbacaffeinate

There are 8 siblings. Chase, Marcus, Gabe, Sophie, Zach, Ryan, Smith and Lori. Then there are the cousins Rafe, Mia and Ian..plus a few more..LOL

I haven’t read any books in this series yet, but I’ve been seeing it around some blogs. I think it’s great when long series still manage to have great books even later on in the series.
Also good to hear they can be read as a standalone, lately I have been seeing more and more series like that and I have to say I really like the trend.

This is one of the few Sullivsns I haven’t read yet. I can’t wait for you to read Always on My Mind. Lori is so great and Grayson is delightfully grumpy.
    Great review!

I think i most definitely will need to give this author another shot 🙂 her characters do sound great and I love how it follows a family and their cousins and so on.

This has been a fun series for me and I really cannot say enough good things about it from the family dynamics, small-town feel and yummy heroes and strong heroines..yep you need to read them.

I guess I should dive back into this series. I read the first book about half a year ago and then never picked up the rest of the series. I guess I have a hard time getting into such long series but this one sounds worth it. I did like how the first one was sweet, had a loving family, and a little steamy.

    Thanks for the great review!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Oh they are such fun Alexa, and each really can be read as a standalone, although I love getting to know all of the siblings.

why must you tempt me with all her books? You do realize I have bought ever single one because of you right? Way to add to my TBR pile Kim, not to mention take away from my wallet. 😛

I really need to stop coming here. 😉

*blinks* I need to update my disclosure with something like: “The author of said reviews is not responsible for the one-click madness that results in reading said reviews!” There that should cover it…ps..don’t stop coming here.

I was trying to remember if I saw the previous book on your blog before but it looks like I didn’t. You have a lot of romance series… I confess I used to read a lot before but not that much now, only when the ones the French publisher send me. But I really should try more because I really enjoy them.

    • kimbacaffeinate

I have reviewed the entire series thus far on the blog and I have really enjoyed them 🙂

  12. Joy

I really love characters that are tight-knit with their families, just adds that much more of a realistic touch to the book. Matt sounds delicious 😉
