5 things you can do now to help you survive the Zombie Apocalypse

1. Take up running. Marathons are good, but sprinting is key. It doesn’t hurt to be in shape for when you need to run away from a horde of zombies.

2. Buy a bicycle. People just don’t run as fast as a bike can go, even when zombiefied.

3. Learn to make fire. Ever watch survivor or any other survival show? No one knows how to do it, but when the power gets taken out and there’s no more lights, you’ll be the king.

4. Put on a little extra weight – the skinny one will be the first to starve.

fat vs skinny

5. Try new foods. When the grocery shelves are empty, you may find that what grossed you out before isn’t half bad when you’re really really hungry.

Sounds like Pauline has a few good ideas, and ladies we now have the perfect excuse not to watch our weight! Check out her newest book Santuary:

by Pauline Creeden
Publication date: September 30, 2013
Genre: Apocalyptic/Horror
Purchase: Amazon

In a heart-racing thriller described as Falling Skies meets The Walking Dead, Jennie struggles to find a safe place for what’s left of her family. But it seems as though there is no place sacred, no place secure. First the aliens attacked the sun, making it dimmer, weaker, and half what it used to be. Then they attacked the water supply, killing one-third of Earth’s population with a bitter contaminate. And when they unleash a new terror on humankind, the victims will wish for death, but will not find it…When the world shatters to pieces around her, will Jennie find the strength she needs to keep going?

Sounds fantastic doesn’t it? Thanks to Pauline we are offering one winner an ebook copy of Sanctuary & paracord survival bracelet. Enter the rafflecopter below. I hope you are as excited about reading Sanctuary as I am. I am a huge fan of Falling Skies and when you mix in zombies I begin to drool 🙂

I should get some running practice. Huh it’s been a while since I did any, but I’d totally steal a bike! 🙂 Hah! I’m not sure about eating new things, let’s hope I’d find some storage full of food 😀
    Great guest post.

Follow these tips and find Daryl Dixon….good to go!!!
    Thanks for the fun giveaway!!!

  3. Jessica Sturgill

I would survive by being a bad a** zombie slayer…self defence class will come in handy I think. Great post & thank you for the great giveaway Good Luck everyone 🙂

    • kimbacaffeinate

I need to practice, and we should probably practice on some rough terrain too!

Is it crazy that the thought of this really does make me cringe and okay, scare me a little? Zombies are gross, proof of that is in the photos up there!

How would I survive? Lots and lots of running and weapons. Yeah, weapons would be good too. 😛

I don’t want to survive, it’s either I’ll shoot myself or I will purposely put myself in harm’s way. Yes it’s cowardly and I’m a disgrace but really I don’t think I’ll survive for long anyways and I’m not just talking about zombies but any kind of -pocalypse. I’d be too scared to function properly I’ll only drag my group down so it’s best if I spare everyone from the inconvenience.

    Happy weekend!

Yes you will, and you’ll probably end up being a kick-ass zombie killer..LOL

  6. Debra Neiman

This book sounds like it has all my favorites, zombies, aliens, climate change, and a heroine. Must read this one.

So, I am thinking that I wound’t survive the apocalypse. I will probably have a heart attack if I run, and I am not one to try new foods, especially if they smell bad. But I do got the extra weight, so I’ll last a little while. 😉
    Sanctuary sounds pretty good.

You need to stock up now, and built a zombie proof environment so that you will not need to run.

Sanctuary sounds like an amazing read! And I love that it’s post-apocalyptic because those stories are always interesting. I barely just finished a book the same genre a few days ago :]

    • kimbacaffeinate

I love the genre too and Sanctuary does sounds amazing! Thanks Hilary 🙂

I think I would survive by hiding and finding other people to stick around with. Being on my own would probably be my downfall :/

  9. Berls

I plan to survive the Zombie Apocalypse because of my BF. The man is just like Daryl on The Walking Dead – he can shoot a crossbow, knows how to hunt and track, start fires, repair anything with anything just lying around and is fiercely protective of me. My part will be running, since my skills – reading, writing, historical research, public speaking – will be of no use. LOL

Great post – I’ve been wanting to read this one 🙂

hahaha..well with all of your reading you should know all about zombies and how to defend against them

    • kimbacaffeinate

:snort: you are right, I guess a little extra padding but not so much that you cannot run or ride bike..:)

  10. Denise Z

Well today I found a post that taught how to grow your own coffee beans, now that the greatest obstacle has been overcome zombies will be a breeze 😉 Thank you for making me giggle.

    • kimbacaffeinate

hahaha…agreed. Although my plan is to stock up on coffee beans, cigarettes and alcohol before the zombie outbreak and control the world!

  11. J.A. Garland

The holidays are helping to ‘fluff’ me up, so I should have plenty of reserves when the Apocalypse hits. (But just in case, I’ll pre-plan by stuffing my backpack with plenty of Halloween candy, because you never know when Z time is coming, lol).

  12. Claira Pam

Heh, love the tips!! I probably wouldn’t be very good at surviving the zombie apocalypse, so I suppose I’d try to find people who could help me. 😉

    • kimbacaffeinate

the key is to have extra padding but not so much that you cannot run 🙂

  13. Alicia Lopez

I’m going to survive by first learning how to make a fire. I always figure i would have a lighter or matches with me but I can’t find my lighter right now. There goes that plan.

    • kimbacaffeinate

Exactly, time to put those girl scout badges to good use!

  14. Alina

A ready-for-zombies bag, hehe, it’ll have weapons, food, water, lighters/matches…ok it’ll have to be a pretty big bag but at least I’d be prepared 😉 Thanks for the awesome post!

  15. pabkins

But wait – how am I going to run fast if I’ve been packing on the pounds???

I’m going to say – practice your spiderman wall climbing cause yeah…I’m sure some quick climbing will need to be done!

    • kimbacaffeinate

Ha, spider climbing would be good. I think they key is to have some extra pounds but not too much.
