I am always on the look out for a new thriller, and Durrant’s novel Under Your Skin sounds interesting. The police detective’s mantra: Assume nothing, Believe No One and Check Everything..made my spine tingle!
by Ilsa J.Bick
Series: Dark Passages #1
Publisher: Egmont USA
Publication date: February 11, 2014
Genre: Science Fiction, Thriller, Mystery
From Ilsa J. Bick—the critically-acclaimed author of The Ashes Trilogy—comes a thrilling young adult novel about blurred reality in the tradition of Memento and Inception, where characters in a story find that a deadly and horrifying world exists in the space between the written lines. Ilsa Bick’s WHITE SPACE, pitched as The Matrix meets Inkheart, about a seventeen-year-old girl who jumps between the lines of books and into the white space where realities are created and destroyed – but who may herself be nothing more than a character written into being from an alternative universe, combines elements of thriller, horror, and speculative fiction into a heart-racing story that will leave readers eager to turn the page.
The Matrix is one of my favorite sci-fi movies, and I have fond memories of reading Inkheart with my daughter, so White Space instantly appealed to me. The idea that the character who is jumping between lines in books might be a character herself intrigues me. When they teased me with elements of horror, thriller and speculative fiction and I began to drool!
