The Unfailing Light
by Robin Bridges
Series: The Katerina Trilogy #2
Publisher: Random House
Publication date: October 9, 2012
Genre: YA Historical/ Paranormal
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

Having had no choice but to use her power has a necromancer to save Russia from dark forces, Katerina Alexandrovna, Duchess of Oldenburg, now wants to forget that she ever used her special powers. She’s about to set off to pursue her lifelong dream of attending medical school when she discovers that Russia’s arch nemesis–who she thought she’d destroyed–is still alive. So on imperial orders, Katerina remains at her old finishing school. She’ll be safe there, because the empress has cast a potent spell to protect it against the vampires and revenants who are bent on toppling the tsar and using Katerina for their own gains. But to Katerina’s horror, the spell unleashes a vengeful ghost within the school, a ghost more dangerous than any creature trying to get in.

I loved the first novel in the Katerina trilogy, The Gathering Storm and you can see my review: here. First, I am fascinated by necromancers. (I know creepy right?) Katerina is such a fun, strong, fearless protagonist and I look forward to seeing how she handles the return of Russia’s nemesis and a ghost!

Isn’t the cover gorgeous?

I haven’t read the first book in the series but this one definitely sounds interesting enough to make me want to read them both. I will gook into them and see if I can get my hands on book one soon. Great pick!
    Check out my WOW.

  2. Christina

I still can’t get over her absurdly tiny waist, but I’m definitely looking forward to this. I didn’t love book one, but I definitely liked it and want some more drama! And definitely more of the hero. 🙂

    My WoW.

OK, I’ll say it…I DO judge a book, at least initially, by the cover. The cover for this is awesome. I will have to add this series to my TBR list . It is getting so long…

The first book in the series was not a favorite, so I haven’t decided if I will read this one. I am looking forward to seeing what you think of it. I hope that you love it!

I haven’t read the Gathering Storm, but it does sound fascinating (necromancers!). I also love this cover, but I think I prefer the cover of The Gathering Storm!

Oh, fantastic choice! 😮 I’ve never seen this before, but I’m totally adding it to the to-read pile. Ever since Anita Blake I love necromancers, so I can’t wait to see how it is!

I have the first one but I haven’t had the chance to read it unfortunately. These books look so good, maybe I’ll get it finished before this comes out.
